“And her bowels turned watery” A quote from ACOTAR
@cxlumbine8 ай бұрын
HUHHHHH
@everywherevisuals71048 ай бұрын
This is wildly out of context SPOILER Pretty sure this is when the main character is being tortured and has to partake in twisted games in an arena. Like involving a giant meat eating worm during one of the trials that chases her. For additional info, the protagonist starts to feel "their bowels turning watery" when she sees the worm and panic washes over her. (If i remember correctly) From what I gather having read her other books, the author believes that extreme fear or pain can cause diarrhea. I looked up fight or flight response and it actually directs the blood away from the digestive system, meaning nausea can set in but not a bowel movement. However, the bladder can relax due to this response, which would make you pee uncontrollably.

That's referring to Feyra's constitution failing when she's facing the 1st challange of 3 at the first book's climax. She's trapped in an arena pit with a massive worm, and the tunnels are littered with bones of the dead. You know what, I'm going to add to this: I've read some of my wife's books and if you were trying to find a point to jab in just how much smut is in them - you picked literally THE WORST book to try it. The first entry to the ACOTAR series is not only tame, it may as well be only PG-13 with the only scene with any real smut being when she's still living with Tamlin, and even then the SJM skips put writing the entire intercorse scene, just the foreplay and it's generic AF. If you want to make fun of the smut, try going after the later works of SJM or maybe something from Haunting Adeline, where her stalker f*ks with the barrel of his revolver... Yeah... Women want it dirty and are sometimes worse than men.

As a book lover, (not on booktok just love to read awesome fiction/fantasy stories) the building of relationships is part of the overall storytelling of the world and is another form of character development. There's been "spicy" books at the public library in my hometown before BookTok was a thing. They were pretty normalized and not really demonized (to my knowledge), just not publically discussed. BookTok has created pretty much a widespread digital book club for the readers, and has POPULARIZED these novels to the point of Barnes & Noble and other companies actually including spice ratings and advertising books as "spicy". As an English major in university, I feel like we shouldn't be targeting the readers and consumers with hate, as those people typically keep the discussion of "spice" within their circles. But instead should question growing number of companies and authors pumping out these types of books just for the sake of profit, thus forcing the subject into the public eye. ----- All the love to you, Flats. This is a subject I also have become frustrated with as an avid reader. I am tired of people asking if I read "spicy" books whenever I mention that I read in my free time (and for school) as if it should be common public knowledge. This subject aside, amazing gameplay. Its impressive being able to play Genji while having such a heated discussion lol.
