I’ve never owned a caladium, but maybe I’ll add it to my wish list ...🤔 I appreciate the two camera angles. Very thorough video as always!

Give them a go I’ve really enjoyed caring for mine! Thanks so much for the lovely comment 🌱🤍

I imagine this process differently - you stop watering caladium, leaves dry out, soil is dry, roots are dry, all moisture and nutrients go from leaves and roots into bulbs. Then, you dig or even not dig bulbs out and let them overwinter. Next season you pot them into fresh soil.

I’ve seen people do it this way too! But I’ve also heard you can run into bacterial rot sometimes this way. Who knows - this is my first time overwintering them 😂

My caladium literally stopped growing new leaves a few weeks ago. Now there’s nothing left of her :(

Ah I’m sorry to hear that! Although it could be just dying back for winter if the tubers are still intact in the soil, very normal for them to do this indoors 😌

Oh my word....is that a Tortum behind you? 🙌🏻. Looking for one in Canada. In lockdown, so have to wait 😢

One can really hear you justifying it to yourself 😂 I just owned my first calcium (Red flash as well) Why didn't you put the leaves on a vase? I accidentally pulled one out and put it on a vase and it has huge roots now. And it's mid October. It seems I can enjoy it for weeks.

100% 😂 Ah that’s wonderful! I hope it lasts for you 😁 I guess indoors the plant may not know it’s winter 😅

@@amyadwan I'm afraid they do as they are depending on the hours of daylight. I didn't put growing lamps near them. One of them is actually getting flappy within this week. Just as yours did. I think I have to follow your "surgery procedure" 😉

Is there a specific temperature they need to be?
@amyadwan4 жыл бұрын
I’m not so sure about exact temperatures, but in general my house doesn’t dip below 18 degrees Celsius in winter. Most tropical plants will do better in between 20-25 degrees C!
