Ovett was the most joyfully fluid, natural runner I've ever seen. I loved running, and I wished I had that beautiful running style he had. Like all virtuosos, he made it look simple.

To my mind, Steve Ovett had the best running form and style of any runner I have ever seen!!

TheGeorge1968 No pal. His great rival Seb Coe had the best ever technique. Coe looked as though he was gliding. It was a joy to watch.

I always thought Ovett was a tiny fraction better than Coe, but he was never as good after this injury.

Robert Boyle that's true, the injury robbed him of that 5% that he never recovered from. before this he was dominant and still improving.

I agree, because I remember he missed 1982 European, and I always wondered, because he was watching in the BBC studio

Those were great times. People cared more for each other back then. There was more humility and less cynacism and narcissism. England had Coe and Ovett rivalry and Lady Di and Margaret Thatcher. What more do you need?

I always felt that Ovett was a little more revered and admired compared to Coe...

Yeah Coe was an upper class cock. My family hated Coe.

Wonderful talent, the athlete's athlete.Amusing that one of the most famous sporting figures of the time was on a public ward 😂

This is a fact....Steve Ovett never ran at his maximum speed

Both Ovett & Coe used to complain about been hounded by the media What today's athlete's wouldn't give to some of that attention.

The injury ruined everything

He was still making world records. I don't know if the injury was his reason for being past his best.

Problem is!!... it appears, to me, that Steve was never rehabilitated correctly!! Annoys me to watch this. I have played many sports and have had many injuries. had to rehabilitate myself!! ..And I do not suffer any issues!! The old saying... follow the money!!
