I’m gonna following the Utah club because those are the guys I’ve been rooting for for well over a decade. But it’s a weird feeling, I hate that my team is Utah. No offense to the fans there or anything. The success you’re seeing is the results of the work that was done here in my state.

I live 20 mins from the Old Gila Arena where the Yotes played for years... I'm still a Sabres fan (I grew up in Buffalo) and an Avs fan (I lived in Colorado for nearly 10 years.)... never became a Yotes fan and now I'm glad.

I've always said this about Phoenix. Everyone who lives there is a transplant. There are finally some kiddos who are coming of age that are from Arizona, but they're like the first significant generation. The transplants all root for their original home teams.

As a Tucson hockey fan, I still pulled for the Coyotes, mostly because of their underdog status and liking a number of their players. Now that they're in Utah, I have no problem still hoping for their success and following them, especially having watched their slow development. I do find it very odd, however, that both Vegas and Colorado home games are currently blacked out here in Tucson-and I assume in Phoenix-on ESPN+. It doesn't seem like a good way to generate fans in the vacuum left by the Coyotes. At least we still have the Roadrunners for a final season here.

Ovechkin is extremely well prepared this year. Looks great after two games and was a force vs. Vegas. 50 goals possible this year. He is one of a kind. I hope he comes back as determined at 40 years of age next year. The fact that we are watching his final seasons hurt. Reality for all hockey players eventually, yet I do hope he does a Jagr and signs year by year deals til he feels he is just an average player. If so he could play another three or four seasons.

I'm one of the Coyotes fans that said my interest in the NHL would wane, and it certainly has. I don't find myself tuning into the games at all, I just watch your recaps and check the scores every once in a while, and even then I come back mainly for you rather than the hockey that's played. I doubt many truly tuned out, but I more or less have. As for who I'd cheer, I'd definitely cheer for Utah over Vegas, without a doubt. It feels weird cheering for Utah of all places, I don't have any connection to the state besides the Coyotes move there, but at least they were once in Arizona. I'm more so cheering for the players rather than the team. Meanwhile Vegas was a rival in the desert, I'm never going to cheer for them.

As a former Arizonan, there's not a chance I'll root for Vegas, the neighboring states are all rivals. I might be in a different situation though, as the first hockey game I can remember seeing was a Maple Leafs game at the ACC, so I had a team to fall back on. Plus I moved to Colorado for school so now that the Coyotes are gone I feel like I can be an Avs fan. I will root for the old Coyotes players, but its so painful that its Utah, I feel wrong supporting a Utah-based team. I'm super happy for the guys with this start and hope they succeed still.

The Coyotes moved here when I was six years old, and I was a fan ever since. I could never bring myself to cheer for Vegas, and I'll admit it's mostly a jealousy thing. They had immediate success in a desert market and I hated seeing it. I will still follow Utah because I have followed the Coyotes and Roadrunners, so I have an emotional attachment to a lot of the players. I wouldn't call myself a "fan" of Utah, but I will at least follow them.

Listening to you talk about the Canucks having a failed season after having a bounce back season really hit deep with me as a Vikings fan… watching football over the last 28 years has been a little bit stressful because well just look up how many times the Minnesota Vikings have made back to back playoff appearances in the last 30 years… Yeah, at least we know that when we have a horrible season will make the playoffs next year so there’s that because I don’t think the franchise has ever gone more than three seasons without a playoff appearance.

I'd agree the ducks are a better option than Vegas, but its really hard for native Arizonans to support an LA team (mainly because of D-Backs Dodgers).

I think when talking about spending to the cap it's important to note that in order to get relief from LTIR you have to spend to the cap. Like if you are 3m below the cap you can't also take off a contract worth 5m for a player on LTIR. So in terms of being able to maximize the total amount available you need to be at or near the cap limit.

The Avs have to turn things around, starting tonight, or they're in extremely serious trouble. Since the cap era began, 8 teams have gotten 0 points in their first 4 games. 2 of 8 made the playoffs. Only 4 teams have gone pointless in 5 games. None of those made the playoffs. Edmonton last season is an example of how an elite team can roar back and place very high in the standings despite an unmitigated disaster of a start, but it's extremely concerning to be in the spot of "make a historic run or miss the playoffs" by mid-October.

Granted I never was a huge NBA fan, but when the sonics left Seattle I just disengaged from the regular season. When the postseason starts I’ll see if there’s a team I’m interested in rooting for (usually a place where I like to visit or could see myself living or a player who went to the same school as me) and will watch a few games and that’s my consumption. I could see a lot of people in Arizona falling into the same pattern.

I don't see any reason why should I cheer for Vegas(no problem with them), I started watching hockey as a coyotes fan and Shane Doan was my favourite player growing up, I know it sucks they relocated but I'd rather cheer for utah, which is technically same franchise if we ignore all this bullshit "expansion team" crap, it's not like they are entirely new team with new players. plus Shane's son plays for them now...
