It's all the more proof just how much more teamwork and coordination there was in OW1. Everyone is communicating constantly and coming together as one unit, when the OW2 team, although communicating with each other, almost seemed like 5 independent players relaying information about their own observations.

This is how all competitive games should be… jumping into OW2 and not playing OW1, I literally cannot believe the lack of comms in the ranked range. I’ve played CS since 2015 and Val since its beta inception; never have I had an issue with comms in any of those games. Are people just socially inept now? And the whole “mute chat and people because toxic” just adds to the issue… it’s infuriating to deal with.

I’ve only played ow 2 and seeing old clips and videos on ow1 I can already tell I would’ve had much more fun in that game. Much more bare bones. More skill expression. No bs suzu and pay to win. Ye there were rly annoying metas like double shield and triple stun brig. But overall across over 30 seasons, the game looked much much better and healthier.

Would go pretty much the same ngl. From personal experience, I was gold tank, silver support, and silver to bronze dps in OW1. Im not diamond on tank, plat on dps, and masters on support. The average diamond or masters from back then is currently gm, and would smoke most players like me.

I don't think healer passive on everyone is a good thing or a bad thing but I think Overwatch might attacking the wrong angle. I feel like the frustrating part of the game is that it's a team game with Jenga like balance. One player falls over your entire team fight could be lost. As a healer it feels frustrating to be forced to play a specific healer or rush to the aid of player only for them to fall over in 1 second. As a tank you either feel invincible or you pop like a balloon. As a DPS you can feel alone and like everything is on you to perform. All of this I think is because damage/healing is too high.

I prefer old Overwatch 1 as it was way more fun maybe I am saying it as I played from my uncle's computer but i still prefer old mechanics like mccree's stuns and more. I love the on fire whenever you get a big super like genji zarya and ana ult combo for sixtuple kills and loot boxes. It was also probably more satisfying to get play of the game back then. Doomfist as offense character with uppercut and when bastion could be turret form forever with healing abilities. Torb super with stage 3 turret. Symettra with 6 turrets and everyone in your team played symettra to cheese. The old system with the broze frames and can be gotten to level 100 5 star gold would be so satisfying

It would be super interesting to see OW1 players with an OW1 setup versus an OW2 team with an OW2 setup. Maybe not 6v5, but let the OW1 team play with open queue hero selection. Find a way to let the OW1 players use OW1 balance heroes and don't let them use any OW2 heroes at all, too. Give Sym her old gun, Bastion his self heal, all the good stuff. Watching that would be insane.

I miss the overwatch 1 ranking system, this stupid "win 5 of lose 15 games" to get a rank is nonsense. I liked it a lot more when you just lost or gained points after a game. The cards were cool at the end of a game. I kind of liked the 6v6 and think they could bring it back somehow, perhaps on certain maptypes. I dont like what they did to support roles, though they kept their word, as the queue time finally balanced out now that all the dps players are quitting. OW2 is better because they actually manage to update the game every now and again, the ingame shop(whatever you think of it) was a smart move because now keeping the servers up isnt a moneysink for them anymore.

With OW2 ranked system change many players who really don't deserve their rank (not saying in a insulting way) managed to get to high ranks regardless. A lot of OW2 GMs were either masters or diamonds in Overwatch 1, some were even plat. While the grind to get into GM in ow1 was rough, so that's why Ow1 GMs are actually pretty fucking good, they got there due to their own efforts and didnt get carried to their rank by a poor designed ranked system.

I miss my gold farm before every events (lootboxs were far better than that shop that we have now on OW2) who allowed me to buy every cosmetics for free every year, that gave me a "goal"! i miss 6v6. i miss the game without new characters who arent played in rank but who are a pain in the ass in QP. i miss cards at the end of the match. i miss 2CP maps (every one of them). i could keep going like forever so i stop here!

They can have a HUGE playerbase boost simply by announcing they're reverting back to OW1. They're gonna have existing old players pick up their old weapons back and current OW2 fans will show them the ropes and vice versa. Balancing can go eatsht, I have literal thousands of hours of scrimms and comp plays in Dive and Goats, unrecorded only because it was prior to rewards being given in premade lobbies. My point is, I'd still have more fun playing the unbalanced game. Comms and player interactions are what makes multiplayer games. We have current Doom and Echo to dismantle Goats anyway. Not that I know since I don't play OW2 cuz my friends no longer play it 😢

20:55 That is the main problem with OW2. They weren't willing to retain a lot of things from the past game after the substantial changes they did to a lot of things in the game. Like 6v6 Double Shield would be dead with Orisa changes. Or 2CP being viable with one less tank. Small things like this ended up adding up in a desperate attempt to fundamentally change how OW2 is played that trickled down all the way from OW2 early development. (They focusing on it and leaving OW1 to die a slow death, only to be what we have today.)

They’re both chaotic in their own ways. But overall I think OW2 is better CURRENTLY because of 5v5 and ult charge passive to make up for counter picking. The passive for all hero’s to gain HP I feel like won’t be healthy for the game. Flankers will be more of a pain but it will put the supports who are dps on roids in some check. But this leaves the door open for a snowball affect into god knows what.

Ofc the ppl still playing from ow1 would be better than the newer ppl who just started. Doesn’t mean the avg skill of gm then and gm now is different

@@garrison4173No it absolutely is that. The knowledge required back then was much higher than now. Notice how the ow1 team would speed out when they lost a teammate? This allows for quicker reengagements. The ow2 team never did that. Notice how the ow1 team had target priority? Or how about how the ow2 team took 4 minutes to use nano blade? That’s because the ow1 team constantly hit them first. Ulting early. There are many many many things that ow1 players had to learn to achieve GM and play with the big boys. GM now is just a time investment. I maintained t500 til I went off to basic training for the army. It was hard as hell. I currently have a 90% win rate in 3 hours solo quing as sombra in GM. I don’t use coms. No one turns around to help their Ana or bap. It is the most free I’ve ever been. It feels like I’m in plat half the time. I don’t even play sombra. I have maybe 10 hours total spanning back to ow1 days. The GMs of old are just better in every possible way when compared to the new ones. It’s because their is a new player base that is populating the rank now because the old players have moved on. It reminds me of the season 2 GMs of ow1. Great, but a lot to learn still. What’s sad is I don’t think they ever will learn. There’s no reason to with the lack of competition nowadays. If the pro scene ever picks back up like it used to be though we might see it.

Rank in Ow1 was much more rewarding when you won because all the players were better so you knew you deserved your rank and even while loosing, still frustrating as f and happened more frequently, youd at least get levels and hunt for loot boxes. Ow2 is such a tunnel vision since the PVE didnt work out in my opinion. It only wants us to spend money in the game rather than play to be rewarded which kept many of my friends hooked. I wish the devs kept the focus on what it already had, even if their PVE idea at the time before we knew theyd drop it sounded amazingly cool, because then the game would probably be more fun and exciting and they wouldnt have players dropping out left and right. They could likely keep the 2 tank games as well. Such a waste honestly

the OW2 comes are dead silent tho it's pretty accurate. I commed a lot in plat/diamond in OW1 and I feel like I always got people in voice. In OW2 the comms are dead silent I very rarely get another soul in OW2, until the game ends and someone calls us trash lmao

I prefer overwatch 1 because of the team work aspects. It was back when comms actually matter and you had to communicate rotations and targets

The difference in comms is clear here and in ranked. Even in gold back in ow1 people commed and shit but now its dead silent. Its a shame too because if you make an effort to make comms and you know what your doing, everyone will kinda just listen to you and your essentially better than the enemy team. Vs. back in the ow1 days even post goats where mfs would be calling out so much stuff and you kinda just learned how to understand everything through the mess.
