Sheet music → mymusic.st/ani...
It's here. I finally uploaded the piano cover of Owari no Sekai Kara.
This song is not from an anime, but it's a track from the album "Owari no hoshi no Love Song" by Jun Maeda and Yanagi Nagi.
After months of delay, days of sleepless nights, countless moments of frustration, dropping and un-dropping it several times, this transcription was actually destined to fail and ultimately land in my "dropped transcriptions" folder.
But... I just.. didn't want to give up so easily.
Because I really wanted to make it happen. I know that countless people are waiting for this. I mean, I made a big announcement to transcribe Owari no sekai kara on Facebook after all, and I don't want to disappoint everyone.
But I just couldn't finish the sheet. I was lacking inspiration. Because this song is pretty straightforward, it doesn't leave any room for fancy piano techniques or transcription ideas.
After countless trial and error, I became frustrated and I decided to just upload a very basic and uninspired sheet of Owari no sekai kara.
However, things have changed after my journey in LA.
When we had the fan-meetup on 12th April, I was amazed to meet all the people, who came all the way to LA, just to see me and Ishter in person. I was happy to see, how much they enjoyed my piano covers, how much I inspired them.
And that's where I finally gained the inspiration to complete the sheet. I completely re-edited the sheet from the scratch and was working every night on this transcription.
I made quick progress and the sheet was almost finished in a few days. As a finishing touch, I added a variation of the main theme - heavily inspired by a Chopin sonata - in the final page of the sheet. Suddenly, the melody is played in a major key!
You ask me why I did that?
Hm... maybe.. just a hunch, but I have a feeling, that the sheet was trying to tell me: "You did it! Thank you so much for not forgetting me in the dropped folder! Thank you for not giving up!"
And that's why I added the final part, known as "good - end".
Well, I think that's the entire story behind the creation of this sheet.
Thank you for reading this wall of text and I hope you enjoyed my piano cover of Owari no Sekai Kara.

Animenz, I know this is just one comment among trillions of others, but I'm writing this to show my gratitude towards you. Before I watched your videos, I was just your average pianist, who focussed on just pleasing others with his classical pieces. Until, I came across your channel, entirely on accident. Best accident ever. From then on, I also started trying to play anime OP and ED on the piano, ignoring what everyone else said about nothing in it being 'actual music'. And now, I can't be happier. So thanks. Thanks for all the inspiration you've given, not just to me, but to so many other pianists. You will always have a fan here. I'm waiting to see you play live in SG in a week. Hopefully I can see how awesome you are in person. Thanks.

+Thatoneanimepianist I always think it's silly that this isn't considered real music. It's better in a certain way, because you have an emotional connection with it and it then can give you more emotion that a perfectly composed lovely piece of music that you have to personal attatchment to.

+Cuthalion how is this not music? It is just music from a different country. (That is if you don't live in Japan) I see people try to make piano compositions of American pop artists all the time. Animenz is so much better. The piano is an incredible instrument. I have seen so many people state that they don't even watch anime and the watch his videos because they are that good. This is definitely music. Sorry if I started ranting :)

Wow, I seriously cannot stop watching the ending. It's just so magnificent, so grandiose... The acoustics are great. I really love the sound of the reverb. Speaking of which, this is the very first time I've seen you use the half-lid on the Steinway. Do you like the sound of it for this particular transcription?
@Animenzzz
@Animenzzz 10 жыл бұрын
I used half-lid or else the reverb would be too intense (see my nagi no asukara piano cover, it was recorded in the same room). There are two main recording halls in my conservatory, but unfortunately, the "Kammermusiksaal", with the steinway D piano, is completely booked in 99% of the time, (I recorded "faraway - Little busters OST" for example in that hall). This hall is called "Kapitelsal" and it's usually vacant in the weekends, I think I'll stick with this room, I also grew to like the reverb, lol.

***** I love the acoustics of this room I don't recall listening to the original, but I'm very familiar with nagi's voice.. and man can you ever hear her voice in your arrangement. It's pretty amazing that you can capture her vocal essence in your piano score.

You know I'm a huge fan of anime piano covers and I listen really often to all videos from Animenz, Theishter, Slsmusic, Fonzi... but this song sound really special to me, the theme is really *catchy* , the structure of the arrangement is *flawless* and the ending is so *mesmerising* . I sound like a _fanboy_ i know but... Thank you very much Animenz, from the bottom of my ears

I was so delighted when I finally saw you do a Nagi song! As much as I love all of your work and understand how hard it was to arrange this, I feel like the Chopin style ending didn't exactly fit all too well in here. Even when Nagi reaches highs and sings loudly, her voice always retains that soft and gentle feel to it. I feel like the constant fortissime, rapidly ascending/descending patterns, and slightly stepping out of the key signature around 4:46 contrasted with that soft, harmonious, and radiant feel of Nagi's voice and of the song itself. Regardless of that, I was completely captivated by your playing and could not stop watching this.
