Yeah, the slope is shallow so even though the thermic cycle was over 10mph, it took a lot of steps to take off with power to make sure I don't come down on the sharp rocks

How come there is no wind at the Long Pine airport? Usually there should be some kind of prevailing wind at the airport, right? What time did you land?

Looks like afternoon time and prevailing winds aren't guaranteed.

Yeah, even though the usual wind in Owens valley summers is southerly, this particular week the wind was light and switchy. Weather not being fully predictable makes flying more interesting!

How big of an oxygen tank do you need on something like this?

We usually fly with a 113 liter tank that’s less than a foot long. Lasts for a 5-6 hour flight and we’re occasionally below 10K ft where we don’t need the oxygen.
