I know he is more speed focused but i want to point out to everyone here that this thing is an off-road beast. He mentions it briefly in the video but this truly shines off road and in hilly areas. I got mine Friday(2024-04-05) and have ridden every day as much as i can ever since. I live near Seattle where there is nothing but steep hills and all throughout this metropolis is there hidden off-road trails. I wish this video expressed more about the off road capabilities, but he is a more road focused EUC enjoyer. I cannot stress enough how much this thing does not care about climbing a hill even at low battery. There are few eucs in my opinion where you can just lean as hard as you can into a steep hill and it not feel like it might give up. This thing does not feel like it will ever drop me and still give me its fastest hill climb. Great video per usual!

Thanks for the review. I'm a one and done type of user, even if I haven't tried something yet. My first time ever riding a scooter was buying an Inmotion RS, the Inmotion orange, not the lame Midnight variant that is lacking. People said I was nuts, but I'm a quick learner and after a half dozen rides, I'm ready for more. Order a Momen Tricher to replace my RS. Same with an eBike, my first was a custom build 60V30Ah bomber type on MTB 19"x2" tires max speed out to 50mph, but after a dozen rides, I kinda want the extra power of a 72V, but I still want to stay in eBike class, not electric motorcycle where I'll need to register it. So, the 60V might be my only choice. I was looking at this Inmotion V14. I like the Inmotion designs and their intuitive designs and initial quality. Seems like a good start, but am I also going to want more? With your experience and understanding how I tend to grow into my PEV hobbies, what would you suggest as a one and done EUC, what would you suggest that will make me happy enough to say, yeah, this all I'll ever need. I was thinking about the Lynx but I'm not a tall person at 5' 9" with a 30" inseam, and might be better off with an 18" wheel instead? Thanks in advance to any suggestions you might have and thanks for this great review!!

Lynx will be fantastic. I also am a one and done kinda person. The problem is that this hobby and technology is ever evolving. Before suspension EUCs came out, people thought suspension was not needed. Now most riders would never buy an EUC without suspension. I would buy the Lynx and ride the stink out of it for a few years, until at which point the next major breakthrough in EUCs will have arrivee, and you'll be dying for an upgrade.

The speed issue for some of us is a safety issue, I live in Mexico City and 43 is not enough for some streets, today I ride a v12 ht and hs, y like the power of the HT breaking and the stability of the tire, (in some areas 43 is unsafe to ride) I like the HS for the speed that seems to be the minimum speed for some streets that you can ride safely, but I just ride the mower board braking and acelerating, so the power is not enough at least for me 85 krider )I am looking for the Lynx (even I have 2 inmotion wheels that I love)

Some noteworthy things not mentioned in any review: - You cannot power the V14 on when it is on the kick-stand. - You cannot set the cut-off angle independently. This is very important for riding on single track. - Some V14 have the issue that it pulls to the right or to the left. - Not very often mentioned: V14 comes with a slow charger

I don't talk about range much because it varies wildly depending on how you ride a wheel. ride it hard and near its limit you'll prob only get 20 are so miles, but its the same for the ETMax or the lynx and any of the other higher voltage 16inch wheels. The v14 wasn't particularly more efficient or less as compared to the other 16inchers so I didn't really mentioned it.

Hsiang. On point you may have missed is that the V14 uses a standard 200mm* eye to eye chock length so you could fit a air shock in there and probably a oil shock to if you wanted. But that is perhaps not the point of this review. God video, god review and I'm for on is wishing you can waste a another16min of my life. Edit I'm unsure if it was 200mm or 150mm or perhaps 100mm but it is a standard length. Edit2: I'm going to use my old V10 for teaching a friend to ride this summer.

I remember being excited about the S18's modular suspension setup, but realizing later that very very few actually bother with upgrading shocks. So yes it is an option but for reviews I usually stick with stock shock since that's what ppl will ride 99% of the time.

Great review but…I get the whole obsession with having a lighter EUC, think about what you're giving up for that. You've got two choices here: a solid, dependable ride with a robust build, coil suspension, and waterproofing for safety and stability, or a 10-15lb lighter wheel that sacrifices overall performance, safety, and durability. You can't have your cake and eat it too. In my opinion, the review should really focus on how impressive it is that this company has nailed the qualities everyone's asking for, while still providing good range and speed. This sounds like a well-balanced wheel. Maybe in future versions, they can lighten it up with different materials, but for now, it's great to see a focus on ride quality and reliability. Now, let's talk about the real deal - how much are you willing to fork out for this EUC? Because if you want to have your cake and eat it to, you've got to be ready to pay for it without complaining about it.

And why aren’t you buying it? Prior generation of EUCs have all been made lighter than today’s current generation of wheels but when you add in the the safety, range, stability and durability people ask for you will come up with a heavier wheel. Weight ADDs to the stability of a EUC. Where do you believe most of the added weight on today’s EUCs come from? Motor or Suspension?

5:04 Nope. Legal only from UL2849 pov, but still illegal no matter how much bias you put in and how much you want to push Inmotion. There are multiple reasons, the most important is missing the secondary braking system (all motor vehicles must have safety brakes) and no signal lights.

@laurv8370 3 ай бұрын
@@boblatkey7160 yes, it is. and I agree that some laws are bullsh!t, and we need to fight to change them (I am an EUC rider myself) but yet, read them. Any motor vehicle going more than x km/h must have a secondary braking system. x is different from country to country, sometimes even from one city/county to another, Germany for example is one of the stricter, with x=6 km/h (for those living behind of the big salty pool, that's about 3.7 mph). and no, I am not German, this was just an example. I don't know the limit in your area, but you have one for sure. edit: look what you did to me! 🤪you put me under so much stress that I had to ask Gepetto... In fact, as always, the truth is somewhere in between... 😊and I (partially) stand corrected. In the part of the world I live (south-east Asia), EUCs are illegal, but nobody gives a damn, policemen laugh at you like you are some kind of a circus freak, and they won't stop you as long as you have a helmet and some protections gears (looking "serious") and/or don't bother other traffic partners (like driving crazy, reckless, etc). So, here is the discussion with Gepetto: -------------- You said: if I live in USA, can I legally drive a motor vehicle without a secondary braking system? ChatGPT said: In the United States, most motor vehicle laws, including those related to braking systems, are governed by federal and state regulations. Typically, vehicles must have at least two independent braking systems for safety-these are the service brake (primary braking system) and an emergency or parking brake (secondary system). Here are some general legal guidelines: Federal Requirements: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) sets federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS), which mandate that all vehicles must have a service brake (for regular driving) and a parking brake (as a backup in case of service brake failure). State Laws: States often follow the FMVSS, but local laws can vary. For example, states may require that: The secondary braking system (emergency or parking brake) can hold the vehicle stationary on an incline. The service brake must function even if one part of the braking system fails (dual-circuit systems are common). In summary, it is generally illegal to drive a motor vehicle without a secondary braking system, as both federal and state laws mandate the need for at least two separate braking systems for safety. Would you like information about any specific state's requirements or a different type of vehicle? -------------- You said: is there a speed limit under which I can drive such vehicle? ChatGPT said: There is no specific speed limit under which driving a vehicle without a secondary braking system is legal in the U.S. The requirement to have both a primary and secondary braking system applies regardless of the speed at which the vehicle is being operated. The regulations are focused on ensuring that vehicles have adequate safety measures in place to stop or slow down effectively, regardless of speed. Some low-speed vehicles (LSVs), such as golf carts or neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs), may have different safety standards, but even these vehicles are typically required to have both a service brake and a parking brake. LSVs are generally limited to a maximum speed of 25 mph, but they still need to meet basic safety regulations, including braking systems. Operating any motor vehicle without proper braking systems would likely be considered unsafe and illegal, regardless of speed, and could result in fines, penalties, or impounding of the vehicle. If you had a particular type of vehicle in mind, I could look into its specific legal requirements. -------------- You said: I was thinking electric unicycles ChatGPT said: Electric unicycles (EUCs) generally fall into a unique category of personal electric vehicles (PEVs), and their legal status varies by state and local jurisdictions in the U.S. Unlike cars and motorcycles, EUCs are typically not classified as motor vehicles under federal or state laws, so they don't have the same requirements for secondary braking systems. Here’s a breakdown of how braking system requirements and speed limits might apply to EUCs: 1. Braking System EUCs typically don't have traditional braking systems like service brakes and parking brakes found in cars or motorcycles. Instead, they rely on regenerative braking, where the motor slows down the wheel by converting kinetic energy into electrical energy. Some jurisdictions don't require EUCs to have a separate emergency or secondary brake because of their unique design, but in most jurisdictions, such devices are illegal. 2. Speed Limits EUC regulations are often tied to speed and power limitations. In many places, EUCs are treated similarly to electric scooters or bicycles, which are limited to speeds between 15-25 mph. For example: In California, electric unicycles fall under similar rules as electric bicycles or scooters, and they must adhere to a maximum speed of 20 mph. New York City allows personal electric vehicles (including EUCs) but caps their speed at 25 mph. 3. Local Variations Some cities or states may have more specific regulations that restrict where EUCs can be ridden (e.g., bike lanes, sidewalks, etc.) and enforce speed limits for these devices. The requirements for safety features like lights, bells, or reflectors might also vary, but a secondary braking system isn't typically mandated for EUCs. If you’re riding an EUC on public roads or bike lanes, it's important to check your local laws, as cities or states can have different approaches to personal electric vehicles.
