I haven't tried this with mine just yet, so proceed with caution everyone, but I read in a book group I'm in that the candle holder is meant to be bent so that the castle design stands up and then the candle will make shadows and be cast through it! Pretty cool and would make it make a lot more sense than it does right now 😂

I had a feeling that may have been the case but also didn't want to tell everyone to do that and be wrong 🤣 I'm also legit afraid that mine is just gonna snap and break when I bend it and didn't want to do that on camera 😳

I was also confused on how the candle holder works. Lol I like the thought of the overlays, but I feel like they stick out of the book, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. 🤷‍♀️ I also missed the reversible dusk jacket artwork. I was so thrown off that it wasn't there. Lol

I feel like this one was kind of boring. The redesigned cover was just okay, edges were probably the best part but still not as amazing to me as others have been. The hard cover was cute but also a bit basic and the end pages just being a design is fine but a bit more boring for me as well. Maybe I've just been spoiled but I've just gotten a lot more lately from book boxes so it seemed meh to me over all.

That sucks! I hope the treatments go well and quickly! I've noticed for a YA box, they often throw in items based on adult books. Prob bc a lot of their subscribers are adults! Lol! Does the round part flip up so it is 90 degrees to the square part? Like pens but they never have a lot of ink. I bought my fav gel pen from their warehouse one last time...the one with a planet on it. It is the best! Socks are fun. Love a good pair. Like the book pot! I know one of the other companies did/does a series of them but 1st time for OC. Wonder if the book only gets the overlays? I asked on insta but no answer. Guess I'll find out in a few days! Another vampire book...cover is nice, like the case better. Not sure I am going to love the story. OC is really giving us a lot of romantasy lately. I really hope they move on and give us something different soon. Especially with them doing a box just for that. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! It should be relatively easy and not as bad as last go around with cancer. I've been very fortunate and lucky in that regard. And lol, you are probably right! Bending the candle holder is supposedly how we are supposed to use it properly, I haven't bent mine yet but will try it out (just hoping I don't break it). Ugh, the ink running out always sucks, especially on a pretty pen. Aw I love that you got that pen! We like our fun socks. This book pot was awesome, especially for their first one. Oh that is a good question, I have no idea if it counts as part of the book or as a goody. And lol, yes, another vampire book! I am curious on how they do their book selections as obviously it has to be a book that is coming out that specific month, then the author has to be willing to work with them, and then also a publisher who can do all the bells & whistles to the special edition. There is probably WAY more other things involved as well but I do wonder if they have fewer choices on books than we would think and that is why we often get romantasies. Regardless, I know that many subscribers want more fantasy books without the romance being a main part of the plot. Should be interesting to see the differences between the boxes once the new ones start in 2025! Thanks for joining in! 💕

@@nikkilovesbooks That's good to hear! I know my dad had skin cancer and it was pretty easy for him to deal with (not painless, but it wasn't a huge production like a lot of other cancers). I had to go through chemo, radiation (2 types) and all the other "fun" stuff so I will still keep my fingers crossed that it goes smoothly for you! I did get my book only today and it did come with the overlays! I'm happy as they are my first set of them...though I think one of them is super dark and hard to make out even over the page. Did you have this issue? I'm very interested in seeing how their choices change (or don't) as their new subs get rolled out. Not everyone wants a romance every single time! I think I'm going to pause the book only to get the full box for November so I don't have to buy the reading journal separately. I figure by the time you add in shipping, it'd be cheaper to just get all the items. I did have to reach out because I can't seem to find the one off purchase anymore. I wonder if they took it off as an option?

@@LJG7654 Thank you! And from what it seems, it looks like this will be like what your dad experienced. So fairly easy compared to the very intense treatment that many other cancers have to do. I have been very fortunate that even my last cancer didn't require intense ongoing treatments like you have gone through. It was a major surgery that has had lasting negative effects on my life but I know I am lucky regardless and that it was even treatable. I am sorry fo all you have gone through but so happy that you are still here! And omg that is awesome that you also got the overlays! Quite a few book companies consider them a "goody" item and don't include them with book only subs. And unfortunately these overlays are rather dark, I also noticed that they hang off the edge a little instead of being exact size to fit inside the book without sticking out. Oh that is smart, shipping is SO expensive. No idea if they took away that option, I swear sometimes they make changes without an announcement. Hope you were able to contact them and get that sorted out!

@@nikkilovesbooks Thanks! I'm happy you're still here too! :) I ended up having to contact them about the book because the last handful of pages were not attached. They should be sending me a new one but I did have to cut into the author page and use a sharpy on the bottom to show it was damaged. Could be worse and I'm sure I'll find someone to give the book too. Haven't really played with the overlays because of that, but go figure! They did take away the option for the one off purchase but since they had subs open, they just put me on the book and goodies one and paused my book only for the month. As soon as it charges on the 1st, I'll cancel which is really the only downside-having to remember to do so! But, financially, it just made more sense not to buy the planner separately b/c of shipping.

Ohh for qr codes, you use your camera on your phone to look at the code, like you're gonna take a picture of it and a link should pop up on your phone screen, just click on the link. I hope that help! 💕 And lol, I was saying aesthetics, I noticed when I was editing that I was having issues pronouncing it clearly (I'm currently having some medical issues, one of them is effecting my speech a bit) 😅
