Definitely. There is some kind of family history that lead to the mistrust on Kim's part, the tension between the mom and her daughter, and the dynamic between the dad and the dogs. Even the relationship between the daughter and the dogs hints to a lot more going on beneath the surface, and it makes the advice seem very shallow, because the root issues were not addressed.

Kim wants to take over the mother role. She has issues with her father and step mother. She doesn’t trust her dad for other reasons that have nothing to do with the dogs and I would hazard to guess they have more to do with her dad marrying a young, pretty, slim, blonde woman. The father has his own issues absolutely but with the level of control Kim wants over every aspect of the smaller dependants of the household...it’s pretty obvious she is trying to be the “responsible adult”

Calamity Natalie to me, she is behaving like a 7-year-old who now has to share her daddy. Dad is caving in because he wants his little girl to accept his wife. Kim is now counting minutes just to keep the blame-game but does it really make a difference for a dog to be fed at 7:30 than say, at 7:45? Dad needs to grow a pair and understand he needs to set his foot down because little Kim is testing him to see if she can still trust him.

Sounds like Kim has some real anxiety issues. I think she'd really benefit from counselling/therapy to help figure out where her desperate need for control comes from. I know it's America, but her family looks like they could afford it. Then again, this was also a decade or so ago, so who knows what they're all up to now. You know... I'd *love* a Where Are They Now segment on some of the more unique families. Obviously a lot of the pups won't be with us anymore, that's sad but inevitable, but some of the families were really genuinely interesting and/or likeable people, and I'd love to know how they're doing. Think Vic would ever go for that?

He wouldn't finish his food most days, I looked up the recommended serving size for labs and husky and it was only 2-3 cups a day for an adult!!! Also, each dog is unique. If your dog is more active then they will absolutely need more food. I don’t follow the recommended feeding on the bag, I look at my dog. I like being able to see a nice tuck under the rib cage as well as easily feel ribs, although not see the ribs. My vet told me that’s a pretty good way to get a good sense of health and improve longevity, if that makes sense.

In general the recommended serviving sizes are kind of more of a guidline. Every dog has different metabolisms and exercise amounts, so the amount of food they need may be less, the same or in some cases more then the recomended. They actually have a formula to give you a general idea of how many callories your dog needs a day.

Dunno, it can come of as wilfully ignorant, especially that one family where she said she'd call the cops on the guy if he physically abused the dogs again. If he's abusing the dogs, what about the kids? You just gonna ignore that, simply cause it ain't your job? I know it's just a show, but any decent person would put people's safety & well being before their job

I have three dogs, two cats and also do a lot of petsitting. It is SO much less stressful to feed everybody at the same times. If they don't finish within a reasonable amount of time, the bowl goes up until the next mealtime. This way you can know exactly how much each dog/cat is eating (or not if they're ill). And it doesn't take them long at all to pick up on the routine if you're consistent. I feel like free feeding definitely just opens up the door to aggression between other pets in the home. And you'll have no clue what to tell your vet the next time they ask you, "How much is your pet eating?" That food will also go stale sitting out like that. If you need an appropriate pet measuring cup, ask your vet. They'll give you one. I don't understand why people make it difficult on themselves.

I have always measured my dog's food and made sure that it is in the limits for their breed. Admittedly, I have a dog who eats everything she sees, so I have to be careful. I started going to my daughter's with the dog and she started eating the food my daughter's dog left behind. So I had to cut back on the food she gets at home during those days. My vet says she's the perfect weight, so I'm happy. An obese dog is a dog that will have health issues. I also get a bit of a chuckle when Victoria says, leave the food down for 20 minutes and if they haven't finished it take it up, because I have never had a dog who didn't scarf their food as soon as it went down, probably due to the measuring so they are hungry when I feed them. Also, my current dog is a beagle and they are notorious for eating fast and as much as they can.

Most dogs will just keep eating until they explode like a goldfish. It is why their food intake has to be structured and monitored. We fed our dog twice a day because if she built up too much stomach acid on an empty stomach, she would actually lose her appetite or feel ill. But, we did not double her food, we simply split it up to a breakfast and dinner. Remember those denta treats are also considered a treat.

When it comes to individuals like the daughter, where they feel if they are not in control, they are out of control attitude. Well they are disruptive to a house hold. they love the girl, but they have to be strong. She looks old enough be on her own. But there is not enough back ground story here. Sometime the best relationship you can have with a grown family member is distance. Where short visits are better for a relationship, than long or living with them. May be that is what is meant by" absence makes the heart grow fonder".

I understand it can be difficult to figure out how much to feed your dog, and not to mention that some dogs easily gain seemingly just from breathing! But omg if you SEE your dog is getting overweight then you're obviously overfeeding. Overweight dogs are really not cute. It's ruining their joints and shortening their lives. I can't understand people who claim to love their dog, but then proceed to overfeed it like ???? i dont get it

sometimes you have to take more into account than just what the bag tells you. I have a treeing walker hound that had heartworms and parasites when I got him. so when I got him from the shelter, I saw his feed sheet which had 1.5 cups twice a day and I gave him that and he was a good size. then I got him treated for parasites and working on the heartworm. they said he was to avoid exercise so he was in a kennel a lot. so I started to see him start to get chunky as his treatment for parasites went on and his stool hardened. without the parasites he was getting more of his own nutrition. same after his first heartworm shot. I reduced his food until she started to slim up again. it's not just body weight, you have to take into account activity level and also look at the dog's belly to see if they are working on a gut or not. the bag says for his weight 3.5 cups a day. he gets slightly less than 2. usually once a week he complains and I give him a touch more in the evenings, but if I gave what I said I would have a beach ball and not a hound! when he is done and can run around, his feed will go back up since he will be burning more. regardless, if your dog starts to look like he has a pot belly, maybe cut back on the the chow!

They should only feed their dogs the right food, not more than actual. It can be very painful for a dog with overweight. They do need food, yes. The problem is many owners overweight their dog's without knowing that. Dog's don't only can eat dry food. They need to eat other food's too. I hope for every dog owner that they care about their dog's weight and what food they need. I hope people are going to look about the dog breed that they want to own. I do have a doberman and she is the sweetest. I live in germany but I do love your videos. I just hope I have maybe some advices..? Have a good day/night dog team :)

Jojo's Universe every dog has a different metabolism. If you’re feeding and the adult dog is maintaining a healthy weight then you’re fine. I have a 60lb lab mix and a 90lb lab. They eat the same amount, 3 cups of food per day plus some treats/veggies. The smaller one has a much higher metabolism (she’s very energetic) and the bigger dog is a little older and more chill. The older dog used to eat 4 cups a day but when he got to be around 11yrs old I noticed he was sleeping a lot more and putting on a little extra weight so I reduced it.
