Exactly. And no chocolate either. It can poison your dog. When I adopted my first dog, I searched Google for a list of all foods that are either incompatible (poisonous), poorly tolerated, tolerated in small quantities, or very well tolerated by dogs. I had this list printed out and glued it to the fridge (today I know it by heart, but the list is still stuck there). Also good to know: signs the dog may have eaten something poisonous to him and what to do? When in doubt, always go to the doctor. There are so many crazies out there laying out poison bait (just a few weeks ago in our area)!

Couldn't say about Netflix etc, I can't remember which streaming service I originally saw it on. The original ep involves 3 dogs and their weight loss. Seriously hefty little dogs.

Don't give dogs citrus fruits, grapes, chocolate, garlic, onion. It can and will cause liver, kidney and heart problems.

Certain snacks are ok for dogs: GRAPES, CHOCOLATE AND PIZZA ARE NOT!! Apples, bananas, peppers, pumpkin, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower- ok for dogs. Sweets like banana and apples in MODERATION

Why would anyone not do basic research on what to feed your dog or not to feed your dog before getting them? A quick google search, or a quick read of Canine Nutrition and Feeding Basics (especially when it comes to human food) would reveal that chocolate, grapes, avocado, etc are dangerous for dogs.

2007 and these are people on the older side, there's real possibility they didn't have internet. I know we take it for granted now, but many people genuinely would not have known this stuff. And may not have thought to go out of the way to find an obscure resource in the library to check for what they considered a normal snack. Perspective - just because you're seeing it now does not mean it happened recently. Ask yourself why you know grapes and chocolate are bad for dogs.

@@foolishlyfoolhardy6004 They know, people have had this as common knowledge for decades but don't listen to their vets etc. Victoria tells the woman how she is harming the animal but she doesn't listen and it shows at the weigh in. 30 years ago I had a friend who wouldn't listen to her vet, and I begged her to listen, but she fed her dog "just a tiny piece" of chocolate every day. The result? A dead dog from kidney failure when the theobromine built up.

I get what you're saying. An alternate motive to consider perhaps is she wants to be the animal's favourite or she gets the payoff from the adoration the dogs give her. Either way that's not love she has for the animals, she loves whatever the emotional payoff she gets.

never understood why these huge treats even exist. My dog is lab sized and I always buy "xxs" treats because he literally doesnt care about the size, just how many. So I prefer a few small ones than one big one

Well, jumbo potato chip bags and 3 patty burgers exist as well. But you're right. Dogs only care how many treats they get. A jumbo sized treat is only one treat, which is less than two small treats. Dog math LOL!

Chocolate being bad for dogs is the MOST basic of the basic knowledge, even children know that! And this lady was going to look us and Victoria in the eyes and say she ocasionally gives it to their dogs, might as well have said she wanted to give up the dog

She probably did not realize she was putting the dogs life in danger. Many people, including myself, has given something they should not have. My dogs vet said even 2 pounds overweight for a dog is bad. Garlic is also toxic for dogs.

when my cat had a kidney problems i ask my dad not to feed her anythyng exept for diet cat food... he continued to give her human food... she died because her kidneys stop working... and i was puting my money into trying to keep her alive... but my father probably didn't understand... that is the type of love that kills

…she said add variety. Which means not every meal should be just kibble, which is mostly meat. Fresh whole foods, with a mix of grains and veggies, and cooked or raw meat is actually better for a dog than pure kibble alone.
