before electrical crap, and computer controlled crap....you broke down, you opened a tool box and fixed it....in the late 1990s I drove a 1968 Mack semi dump with 3 million on it, and that was just used seasonally....there are more guys than you know that have gotten over 4 million out of trucks....EPA and emissions laws have killed that.

I've watched this interview maybe 5 times over the past year and of all the interviews you have done, this is hands down the best. It was obviously impromptu but both you and the legend, Mr. Spooner are terrific. I've also enjoyed the hour long (+) follow up interview you did with Mr. Spooner. I tip my hat to both of you.

I spoke to Mr Spooner when I first started driving 19yrs ago. I was passing him on I-30 east of Dallas. I was in a new 379 Pete and he was in one of his needle nose Pete’s. I slowed down to run with him for the next couple of hours. At that time he was pulling trade shows like he said in his interview. He was a very nice and interesting gentleman. Over the years I’ve told several people about running up the road with that canary yellow Pete.

My old pete as around 1,818,850.0 on the speedo and its just getting broke in, its the 4th one i have bought and this one will be the last one. im sure you can relate the fact that after a million miles that some one puts on a truck, they become family, and its hard to sell or replace them, all my old trucks helped me raise my family, so out respect for my old truck i just keep rebuilding it and make it shine the best i can!! Every one should remember that "if it wasnt for the old school ways, we wouldnt be here today" Keep trucking Brother!!!!
