The best thing I've ever heard said about the Sabbat has been, "In the Sabbat, you are free to do as you please, as long as you have the power to do as you please."
@Nyrufa2 жыл бұрын
Another nice thing that can be said about them, is their Vaulderie ritual gives you something that neither the Camarilla, nor the Anarchs can provide. Bonds of love and friendship between you and your coterie. In the other two sects, it's pretty much well known that everybody is ultimately out for themselves first and foremost. Alliances are made for the sake of convenience, and broken off once they have served their purpose. But when it comes to the Sabbat, your pack is your new family, and each member would be willing to give their lives to protect the others if the situation called for it. Sure, they may be a bunch of religious fanatics, but at least with the Sabbat, you're in the company of people you can trust to guard your back, instead of stab it.

Honestly, it’s an interesting philosophy that can either go well or end in complete destructive chaos. Either people are so caught up fighting each other or some random bloke figures mutually assured destruction is better than a fractured ego. In a way, it’s just like how the real world works.

Well, that was fascinating. I had no idea that Sabbat was that complex as a faction; really puts things in perspective. Now I see wy fans were annoyed about them being reduced to chaotic psychos in Bloodlines. Thanks a lot, and please do continue these videos^^
@anotherboredperson6 жыл бұрын
Well, chaotic psychos are an important part of the sabbat. The Shovelheads are shock infantry, and most sabbat packs are not made to last- but to be guided missiles in a never ending war. Andre was more indicative of the middle-power sabbat leaders. He was a pack priest, a skilled manipulator, and was running a counterintelligence mission against the city's Nosferatu- one so successful that NO ONE but the Nosferatu had any idea what was going on, and they couldn't communicate it outside without losing face. The Sabbat is a collection of tactical geniuses who have hundreds, some THOUSANDS of years of experience behind them. But 95% of the Sabbat will not make it past the first year of their embrace. The real manipulators rarely show their face, while everyone else may as well the The Lost Boys.
@Marten_Broadcloak6 жыл бұрын
anotherboredperson said it right. The Shovelheads are a thing, and probably the only Sabbat most Camarilla Kindred ever face. The further in you go, even to a decent, vetted pack, things get a LOT more structured, effective and even somewhat stable. To some sense. It WAS a bit disappointing to see the Sabbat reduced to simple psychos and powerful freaks. They are so much more. They are a deeply complex and rather awesome sect. Deeply inhuman, but... at least they're not lying to themselves about what they are.
@florida_sucks2 жыл бұрын
I've never seen anyone complain about this with Bloodlines. How is Andrei a chaotic psycho??? The Sabbat has shovelheads and grunts, of course, but to say that Bloodlines mischaracterized the Sabbat is simply inaccurate.

Sabbat fascinate me, I wish more people would run Sabbat games but they aren't as popular, mostly because they're seen as a joke sect and popular only with edgy teens who only want a combat heavy gorefest type of game. But if the chronicle is written well, if the storyteller is competent and knows how to build atmosphere, and the players are mature and dedicated to their characters and the setting then a Sabbat game has the potential to be as interesting as any Camarilla or Anarch game.
@turinturambar62344 жыл бұрын
You could do a game with paths that limit innocent deaths like the path of retribution in which your main focus is killing Camarilla which gives you a clear enemy along with blood bonds that prevent betrayals from easily happening. I find the Sabbat fun because of the combat focus however diplomacy is still possible through factions and philosophical paths the Sabbat who wish to guide the organization, ranging from Loyalists who highly sympathize with the Anarchs and Ultra-Conservatives who are Sabbat supremacists. A Sabbat game isnt like a Camarilla game where your bloodline or rank matter more than your beliefs the Sabbat is malleable & always changing through ruthless force.
@rawrbeez66254 жыл бұрын
Also if the ST controls and limits options for PoE s. If you don’t want it to turn into a gore fest, use some more creative paths. I would love for my ST to let me play the Path of Redemption in our v5 game as like a shock to the rest of the players. They could be very nuanced.
@ValtroileIzolda4 жыл бұрын
Mature players, competent STs, and the right atmosphere all are necessary for any Vampire game, not just Sabbat. Edgy teens can make any game a gorefest, or a Twilight cosplay, or a lame attempt at Ann Ryce style chronicle.. Why I have always played Sabbat games, is that it's the most complex sect, playing which raises the toughest questions. And, btw, with a right atmosphere, Sabbat games turn into a proper psychological thriller instead of a Rob Zombie movie the elitist Camarilla players love to scoff at so often. Sabbat games are the best because they are the most challenging and demanding both from ST and the players not to overstep that Edge where a tragedy turns into a farce. In terms of the power of emotions and self-reflection they invoke they almost reach Wraith: The Oblivion levels.

I played in a pretty cool Sabbat game. It was kind of fanfictiony tbh but it was at least not a combat focused "Mwahahaha, we're bad guys" game.
