You will need:
20 gauge round wire, dead-soft (I am using copper), about 8 inches
28 gauge round wire, dead-soft (I am using copper)
Cabochon (mine is 3/4 of an inch or 20mm)
I oxidize my bare copper wire using liver of sulfur to achieve that darker look you see in the thumbnail of the video, here is a video on how I oxidize: • How to Oxidize Bare Co...

Love your clear tutorials and the fact that you don't go off-camera. It makes it so easy to follow. Not to be rude, but your stone is not labradorite. It's rainbow moonstone and it's a beautiful cab!

Thank you for sharing this video. I am about to start using wire wraps. I’ve never done it before because I was afraid that i wouldn’t be able to do it. After watching this video and the way that you explain and show everything step by step and slowly, I think I can do it now. I bead but kind of bored with just beading now. I think it’s time to get out of my confort zone. Lol. So thank you once again.

Love all of your tutorials and have just completed a "Tree of Life" using this technique. This is the first one that I have been truly satisfied with. Looks glorious using a Lapis cab.(approx. 3x2cm oval). I have been using ebay as a source for cabs. In general those sourced from India are consistently of a better quality and value.

The only tree wire I have is 24 and 30. 24 was too bulky. The roots looked really heavy. 30 is too fine. So I cut out 4 24's and added 5 30s. My 30 is a darker color copper. It's kinda cool, the 2 tones of copper twisted together.

I watched your video another was doing my pendant all the wires started to snap. Do you have any advice. It was cheaper wire so I'm hoping that's what it is cuz I actually got the pattern down it's not that hurt it just a little bit of time. And I use the sauce gold on a light Mossy green pendant and it looked really pretty accept Snap Snap Snap I just started to fall apart. Once again I'm almost positive it was the wires fault but what is the strongest wire you could help me with that that would be great

Gotta ask if you are right handed or left? Some of this is very difficult if you do it exactly as you are in the video. I am right handed and had to do things quite a bit differently at certain points to hold the stone properly in place and bend the wires at the same time. However, my left hand is much weaker than my right and doesn't do a good job of twisting or bending any wires but I hadn't had any problem with your other tutorials

I am right handed. Maybe it's just because I've been doing it for years so my left hand is probably strong now also.

Yesterday I made a comment about how my wires were snapping . I was sure that it was due to the wire and obviously, I will repeat,obviously not the fault of this wonderful woman doing this wonderful video that I can wonderfully follow without once getting confused. This time I use silver-plated wire like it suggested Google and it worked. To put a positive spin on my disastrous outcome. At least I did one practice run and today the wire did not snap and I was able to get the whole tree done in less than 10 minutes. If you don't mind me suggesting this and to anyone out there I'm not trying to be the B word. Please just let your followers know to use a strong wire I can't tell you how frustrated I was when it started snapping it just really sucked.

So glad it all worked out for you! This is a super tiny tree and as such I had to use super tiny wire. I would definitely recommend starting with a bigger tree (bigger stone) and a thicker wire like 24 gauge, that will definitely be easiest to start with. Here's my tutorial on a bigger tree with 24 gauge branches: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z36ceJSnZ9N8fsU

When making the frame, make a loop in the frame at the other end, this way you can turn it into a bracelet. To make odd number of branches, after you form the tree shape, cut off one of the branches and tuck away the wire end under the tree.

Tree pendants usually take me 45min-1hr, tutorial video is condensed so it's never that quick in real life. Some bigger more intricate trees with more branches take well over an hour. And you also have to consider the oxidising and polishing, that's about another 20 min added

Hi, i had two quick questions if you can answer them whenever you get the chance! :) First: i’m new into wire wrapping, i have not yet wire wrapped one thing yet. i bought the wire not knowing what gauge to buy so i ended up buying 2 things of 22 gauge. can i still do this type of design with the same size wire or will i have to buy a smaller gauge? Second: as i said above, i have not yet wire wrapped anything so would you recommend this design for my first time? or something more simpler? thank you!!
@OxanaCrafts
@OxanaCrafts 5 жыл бұрын
I'd probably start with something simpler than a tree. There is another tree tutorial I have, it is on an oval jasper stone, a bigger stone so I use thicker wire, I think 24. Maybe you can do a large stone and that way the 22 you have will work
