dionysius being the third prime soul is actually a great idea. in some stories he’s also referred to as the god of madness. so maybe the angels considered him a threat, maybe he turned the humans mad making them create the machines thus ultrakill lore happening. he goes rogue and they eliminate him and the second they do? his prime soul counterpart just rushes out of his dead body wanting nothing more than to spread the angel’s insides across the galaxies.

I love the rising tense of the song at its beginning, it’s almost like V1 just acknowledged who he’s fighting, killer of all killers, and the point after that is him trying to ease himself. The bells chime again and again, almost like they expected V1 to die at this rate, but after all the challenges you’ve prepared yourself for, your ready, and that’s where the beat drop happens. It’s all panic, even for Dionysus, who acknowledges that his spot might just be ripped away from him. Amazing soundtrack, I always love speculating on new potentials of prime souls, and this just provided so much to Dionysus. Edit: I’ve got an idea as to what the bells could mean, perhaps like enraged idols or some variant of it could place like, a omen of death on you, and if you don’t destroy them in time, the bells chime and you drop dead, no game over screen, just pure, black, silence..

Honestly this fits so well for a P-3 boss theme after playing it in the bg with the other prime souls, my only problem is that the final leitmotif/solo near the end doesn't really sound that climactic. Like this is the culmination of everything in the game, I feel like it should reflect that a bit more. Here’s my take on the speech that he could give: “…a new challenger, one truly worthy of my time. Not many get that honor, lost one. I see you’ve bested my compatriots as well. I am nothing like them. They were weak, too soft. You will find no such mercy with me. Death is near, machine. Will you answer the resounding call?” His health bar is double Sisyphus’s. Voice lines/attacks: “The abyss beckons.” Dionysius slams his scythe into the ground, causing a long trench which burns to be made. This trench continues until it reaches a wall. He usually does this in the corner of the arena, to cover the most distance with the trench. The trench lasts 15 seconds. “The bell tolls.” Dionysius throws his scythe out, which is caught by a slower spectral copy. He begins to pelt the player with bursts of homing projectiles while his clone attacks at close range. His clone cannot cast this attack, and any alterations caused by the copy disappears when it dies. Dionysius is invincible until the clone dies, and hovers in the air. “Oblivion upon you!” Dionysius launches into a 10 hit combo, the last hit a large parriable sweep. If you are hit, Dionysius leeches some of your health. Laser Circle: Dionysius floats above the arena, and fires four lasers. These lasers continually move clockwise and in towards him. After ten seconds, he lands. Next time he casts laser circle, it reverses to away from him. After that, back to towards him. Brimstone: several meteors crash into the ground as Dionysius fires 3 lasers towards you. Scythe combo: Dionysius launches into a 5-hit combo, each one leeching health should it hit. Each strike launches burning non-leeching projectiles. “A storm approaches.” Dionysius rapidly slices through an area similar in size to Sisyphus’s explosion, leeching every hit. Soul scythes: Dionysius throws out 3 scythes, which last until destroyed. Once they hit a surface, they begin throwing burning projectiles at the player. “How…?” Phase two voice line. Phase Two changes: “The abyss beckons.” Makes 5 trenches, and each one lasts 30 seconds. “The bell tolls.” Makes three spectral copies, each of which needs to be destroyed. “Oblivion upon you!” No longer has a parriable sweep, and leeches twice as much health. Can’t heal over phase boundaries, basically means he can’t go back to phase one health bar. Laser Circle: 8 beams are made, and they are the opposite effect of each other. 4 going in, 4 going out. Brimstone: a lot more meteors fall as Dionysius fires nine beams in succession. Scythe combo: extended to a 7 hit combo, the last two strikes dealing far more damage, leeching more health, and launch three projectiles instead of one, but are able to be parried. “A storm approaches.” Doubles area but decreases leeched health. Soul Scythes: 6 scythes are thrown, and they attack twice as fast, for less damage. Ending monologue: “…how… how did you best me? I… I was heaven’s greatest threat. The things I did to get here, just to be defeated by a soulless piece of scrap… I understand it now. I understand my punishment, finally. Be warned, machine. The path you tread leads in your demise. As for me, my time has come…” Dionysius is dead silent as he rises and explodes. Edit: corrected spelling of Dionysius. Also added health amount.

the problem with persephone or dionysus being the boss for p-3 is that they’re also gods, which doesn’t make lore sense. how would they be imprisoned, if not by other gods? the only ones i could see being imprisoned are zeus and hephaestus, for they could easily be overtaken by rallying the others against them. with dionysus especially, he’s the most chill, they’d have no reason to imprison him unless it’s considered taboo to take an angel from another pantheon, but that would reduce the effect of gabriel’s character arc
