Oxendon Tunnel - Mid October 2023

the place I parked is just off the A508 Harborough Road just south of Oxendon village, on Google maps is named Oxendon Road, but it is in fact a dead end and only leads to this parking area

Beautiful Tunnel, great there is a path to walk on top of it. Stunning brickwork too. I wouldn't go inside it though if there were wasps everywhere! Or spiders, 😱😮

To be fair the wasps or bees weren't coming down to bother me, but just the thought of spiders in there gives me the creeps ... not a fan of them at all 😱🕸

We're you are now is were the TWO lines run side by side back to market Harborough the tunnel you went in is the only tunnel with a smoke vent in it the other tunnels are about 2 miles further on to wards Lamport

That tunnel you looking at is the down road to market Harborough. One tunnel has a bend in it you are in the up line tunnel to Lamport and then on to Northampton?.

That tunnel has a bend in it don't try to get in it it's not safe there's a large crack in the roof so keep out of that tunnel.

If you go to the tunnel mouth from the Kelmarch side and look up to the roof you will see how much the tunnel is deteriorating I hope this helps. I live in the West country now it would be great if we could meet and I could show you some photos of the line.

Is this tunnel the kattell Marsh Tunnel because l'v bin down this siycl path that goes from Northampton to Martkit Harbour and their two Tunnels one is a mile long and is half an mile long and l'v bin through them both my friend

This is the "Oxendon Tunnel" ..... and further down the line Towards Northampton is the "Kelmarsh Tunnel" ....... that'll be the one your thinking of 👍🏻 ..... if you go back through my videos you'll find the Kelmarsh video just a few weeks before this video

The tunnel your looking at is the tunnel with the bend in it.

The other tunnel has got a curve in it & that's why you can't see through it.

So you may have just cleared up the mystery for me then ... is the gated shut tunnel the one with the bend in it ? And is that the reason I cannot see the light at the other end ?

Yes you quite right that is the only one of the 4 tunnel the other 3 are straight hope this helps .
