How can Brookes beat them so consistently. Would Brookes not be focused on Henley distance in their training Vs HOR / Boat Race?

In rowing, better crews tend to be better at all distances, bigger aerobic bases/higher work capacities directly translate to better 2k times, so power profiles are usually pretty consistent The exception would be an unfit probably novice, but strong crew that can generate power for something like a 500m race but not a 2k/5k

Brookes is one of the top college programmes in the world. They are a proven route into the Olympic team, and attract international-class rowers. What people often don't understand is that the Oxbridge rowers also have to meet the exacting academic entry standards of an elite university - so they are drawing from a small pool of people who are both outstanding students and outstanding athletes.
