Your top speed is 100mph. Although the line speed was 125 you were not supposed to break 100mph. Because you did, you arrived at Reading early - hence the wait for a green light

The signals were at Red because they are controlled, meaning they only change when a train is nearby and a route has been set by the signaller. Also signals go Green->Double Yellow->Yellow->Red. A flashing yellow means you are taking a diverging route

Actually you can press "9" to see a map of the track. It's quite useful to figure out whether the red is "true" (with a train coming the other way) or not. Signals are set red by standard btw. On the hud, when there is a yellow-black sign, you have to hit the AWS-button. Flashing yellow means you are going for the diverging track, and double yellow means the next signal is yellow only. At 29:20 the "stray" AWS is a warning form the "Speed restriction ahead" sign, at 29:25, the downward pointing triangle is the sign to which the AWS magnet is alluding to, the arrow pointing to the right under the triangle indicates that the speed restriction is for the turn out to the right, As others have said the flashing yellows are a warning of an up coming route divergence.

Also the way to sightsee in career mode is to keep an eye on the signals down in the bottom, and then switch to the cab view when a signal comes up, if its green you jump back out, if its anything but green you stay in cab till its green.

Double yellow signal means slow down as approaching a red in two signals. Single yellow light means stop at next signal. Flashing yellows means that you are changing routes and on new route be prepared to stop

The reason why you sat at Reading for like an hour was because of that HST, which has priority as it is only stopping at London Paddington, and you will be put on the fast line too, but as his journey requires no stop at Slough yet yours does, his gets priority. It is exercising your judgement into what you think is the problem, that is the reason for the difficulty level.

7:00-The reason for the two different painted locomotives is the one you are driving is what we in America call Heritage unit, a specially painted locomotive. the one at the back is a stranded EWS 67 Class locomotive.

The flashing aspects were designed to give the driver advance warning that the junction signal ahead is showing a 'proceed' aspect applicable to the diverging route. Where there is more than one diverging route, the flashing aspects only refer to the highest speed divergences. A double yellow light is advanced warning of a single yellow. Flashing signals were introduced associated with high speed trains though I don't know if that is the reason here as some others have indicate different.

Flashing Yellows are A Warning of Changing Tracks and Speed on Main Line Routes in the UK, as i Commented on the 1st Part. After Slough you had a train on the Same track with the Absolute block Signalling System on Signaler will not be allow to have Two Trains on the Same Block, Between Signals, and its completely safe, the signal wouldn't be clear if the other train was on the same block, AWS warning can be set up for Speed reduction warnings as well as signals. And the Only reason you dont go to Wembly is because to get there you would have to exit the Great Western Mainline after Acton Mainline Station which is off This Line

As some people already mentioned, you can hit the TAB key to see if the game will allow you to conduct a SPAD (Signal Pass At Danger). Keep this mind as it can be crucial if you are going at 100 MPH and less than a quarter of a mile away from a red signal. If the SPAD is approved, you just saved yourself from failing the scenario. Anyway, what I wanted to mention is that you probably got to the station early because you went over the speed limit. While the track speed limit was over 100 MPH, the scenario indicated that the train's speed limit is 100 MPH. Meaning you probably shaved off a lot of time which explains the red signal. There is a difference in speed limit for both the train and the track. Finally, other than hitting TAB you could check the map using the 9 key I believe. Sometimes, a train might be crossing the track that you are running on or simply a slow moving train ahead of you and you will be able to see the train on the map. Thanks you for the videos.

DaSquirrelsNuts Whenever the next signal is not in sight and you suspect it to be a Red signal, Press Tab(Request to Pass Signal at Danger or something like that). It will either say approved or denied. If no message pops-up next signal is not Red. Hope it helps :)

Hi squirrel, because you are not doing it in career mode there will not be a time that you have to be at the stations. Also when stuck at red lights sometimes if you push the tab button on the keyboard it may allow you to proceed through the red.

The reason you keep getting caught out by the AWS in 3rd person camera is because you turn off the bottom panel. On the bottom panel there is an ! button which will light up to tell you of an AWS warning that you need to respond to.

Im guessing this is an add-on for train simulator 2014? If so what is the add-n exactly called ? would love to get this add-on as the class 67 is a brilliant locomotive! This is a realistic scenario with everything at red at the beginning. From my experience the signals are generally left on red if no traffic is present by the signaller unless theyre automatic signals of course! Great video!

I was on a train to Sydney from Bathurst NSW Australia. The train was already one hour late. on the outskirts of Sydney around about 9 o'clock at night, The train suddenly applied emergency brake... Then there was an announcement... We had hit a person. we waited on the train for a hour thankfully it was dark so we didn't see the mess The guy survived. When we got to Sydney it was 11 o'clock at night, The train was four hours late. Not to mention that one of the trains engines were shut off due to mechanical problems. It could of been worse.

SquirrelNuts, Your train itself is limited to 100 mph. The main reason was because the MK2 Coaches wern't designed to go up to 125mph... so even if the line speed is 125 you must stay under 100 :)

The reason you where standing at reading for so long is that inthe real world, you would of been a specially chartered train for the football. As train timetables are agreed a year in advance by national rail, your train was waiting to jump into a busy timetable on the great western main line from bristol/cardiff to paddington.

There's a reason for the 100 mph limit. It's the maximum allowed speed for the mk2 cars you are pulling.

EWS paint their trains that red colour to match their coal wagons (They supply my local power station along side Freightliner doing biomass)
