You should do Paper 2. It consists of the same amount of questions/marks but completely different topics. Both papers have set topics that appear with little overlap. Your final grade is then marked out of 600 with pre set grade boundaries i.e best grade being a H1 which is received if a candidate scores 540>=.

In terms of difficulty - 1. This is only half of the total maths exam. The following day is the second paper. 2. Students study 6 or 7 subjects at Leaving Certificate, not just 3 as in UK A levels. So yeah, maybe that'll shove it up the difficulty list a bit?
@MartyFarrell-fp4twКүн бұрын
Guy did well obviously but didn't blaze though what is only half the exam. I think it's a fair rating in the overall picture when you look at what the system is trying to achieve

This is the same paper I did for my leaving cert in 2023! I’m now in my second year studying pure maths!!
@Theo-ef5tx4 күн бұрын
Also I should mention in Ireland, basically every single secondary student has to take this maths paper along with 6-7 other subjects. Math is a mandatory subject for secondary students in Ireland, and it is highly encouraged that you take the higher level paper as you are given extra points in your leaving cert for passing it, so the majority of students doing this paper do not like maths!!!
@yaboijuggy19583 күн бұрын
@@Theo-ef5tx this is similar in australia (NSW where im from), where the harder subjects reward you with more "atar" points, but the only way to do harder mathematics is if you are good enough - judged by your school/teacher - so not everyone is able to choose it.

The name of the exam is surely amazing. Leaving cert is hardcore. For complex problem why not just draw the unit circle and get 120 degrees on second quadrant Functions problem I think will get me skinned alive. By definition Injective means any a,b f(a)=f(b)if and only if a=b Surjective if f:C->D with some handwaving f(C)=D. Written properly any y€D exists x€C such that f(X)=y For subject 6? v'>0 tangent to graph is growing. v''

It's interesting that you rank it with A levels. It's commonly thought that, since UK students only do three A levels, they are to a higher standard than the Irish equivalent subjects as we usually study seven and in some cases eight

Thats a point that needs to be made . The Irish student has more than a double load of subjects and will pr9bably be a year or more younger as well.

A-level students tend to be a year older than leaving cert students when taking their finals, additionally Irish Bachelor Degrees (hons) traditionally take 4 years to complete post leaving cert.
