So the apparent “intrinsic worth of that person” is more important than how that person feels. If they were truly worth that much, they wouldn’t be kept alive to suffer mentally or physically whilst having to watch others living a life they cannot. The only worth they have in your eyes is the one you are attributing to them. Surely they are worthy of making their own choice? Especially given that only they can know the true suffering that they themselves are going through. No matter how long you want to keep these people alive for, they are still not living. Constant suffering is not living.

This is a totally evil bill. Both the Roman Catholic and the Church of England are against this bill. Many people that don’t follow a religion are also against this bill.

Agreed, I’m a very strong atheist and I am totally opposed to this (especially as someone who is disabled). Dignity is not something that can be granted or bestowed, but something that just comes by virtue of being a human being. Furthermore, all laws should be made considering how they would affect the most disadvantaged among us in society and as assisted suicide is sought out most after those society already disregards the most (elderly, mentally ill, disabled people like myself) there is no way such a law could ever be just. This is truly barbaric.

She completely fails to answer the quality of life question.

She says that doctors.........".must respect the intrinsic worth of that person" . That's fine and as it should be but she fails to give any mention of the respect doctors should show for the desires of the patient and their ability to choose what happens to them.

This should not just be about physical illness. I have suffered from chronic depression and anxiety most of my life. I am 77 and haven't left the house for 10 years. I have been prescribed every anti-depression on earth and nothing works. Every day is misery and tears. Why should I be made to live dreading waking up in the morning? The only thing we own is our body, so why shouldn't we have the choice to leave the sadness behind

Because the greedy government, doctors and pharmaceutical companies wouldn’t benefit from your money and taxes anymore. That’s why. I hear your pain, I wish you the best lucie

extremely well-constructed argument though I dont share her view entirely.

My life, my body. If I want to end my life due to pain and suffering, I MUST be allowed to. The Government do not own my body and they do not see my suffering. Cold hearted if you don’t agree.

Whilst I disagree, this is very well argued indeed.

Very well constructed argument and demonstrates clearly why assisted suicide is the wrong direction to go
