Every nation has its sovereignty within its geographical boundary. It is business of no other nation to intervene that country, whatever the reason maybe unless it poses threat to your nation in any way. It's called "minding your own business". & if you feel the need to be very humanitarian & fighting against injustice; go solve the problem in your own nation 1st. Military action with no post war/ act stabilising strategy is meaningless. You enter; disrupt the nation; create a bigger havoc than there already was, accumulate resources(crude) & then leave from their- that's crappy, disgusting. I wonder why is it always US who feels the need to be a problem solver in Arab nations. Using supremacy to acquire a nations wealth- that's the sole purpose of US. Had they been so concerned about the country's stability, they'd have acted in political manner & not resort to military straight away. Isis is in a way doing exactly the same US army did in their country- entering the nation, using destructive force but just at lower level.

'.. Unless employed with a larger political purpose and a comprehensive framework.'. Indeed. And therein lies the crux of the matter. The UK/USA don't have enough diplomatic positions filled by qualified people, (partly, perhaps, because those qualified don't want to be associated to the nationalistic extremists that have latched on to a moderate positron, with all of the sanity of a rabid wolverine), and so therfore are losing a lot of face time I'd reckon that others are availing themselves of. Boy, India just set the UK back on its hips, didn't they? Me, the UNs an archaic shadow of its former glory. But you can't suggest a world parliament, where citizens of countries ELECT who represents them, without the fundamentalist evangelists losing their minds. Maybe in 100 years? You know, if we don't blow ourselves up first? In the meantime, vet the candidates and get some diplomatic scrappers about who agent propelled by extremist thinking of any kind. A few basic moral principles they'd die for on their part, and a sea of support on a moments notice would be, imnsho, , your best bet. One of them, anyhow?
