Bob Wilkins, beloved host of KTVU's "Creature Features" (which he hosted from 1971-1979, though it continued after that) returned to channel 2 in 1987, for a special one-time "hosting" of John Carpenter's The Fog.

This brings back good memories. It was Creature Features and Bob Wilkins gave me the beginning of my love for horror films. RIP Bob, you are truly missed.

He was the man. Watching Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, The Mummy. Also a lot of science fiction films as well. A lot of the horror films were made in England. Bob Wilkins also did one for KTXL 40. This was before the Fox Network took over. Unfortunately, Bob passed away around 2009 or 2010 in Reno, Nevada, he was living in a nursing home and suffered from dementia.

I miss Bob Wilkins. He made our Saturday nights. I came close to working with him at KCRA in Sacramento in 1995. He did a special program for his 30-year anniversary as well as KCRA's 50th. The movie was "Attack of the Mushroom People."

This guy was a hero for me growing up in the seventies. I was in Seattle (still am!) and we were lucky to get KTVU through the magic of cablevision for several years and so I could watch every Saturday late night Creature Features and other day time Horror movie programs like Chiller Thriller Matinee which I think came out of Canada, also Seattle had Mystery Mansion Theatre which had an ultra cool opening of a silohuette of a mansion and the camera would pan up closer with thunder and lightening going on(of course) and slowly the windows would light up to cool and creepy harpsichord music and a sonorous man's voice would introduce the night's feature. Wish I could see that again. Nightmare Theater was a Friday late-night horror show with the Count. Ran frm the early sixties up into the mid seventies. I remember the Count being in poor health. Good times though. TV was so much more fun before all that late-night info crap came on!. We had a horror fest on weekends then and now late nights on the weekends are crap. Svengoolie is ok, sometimes, mostly f-----g awful, He's no Bob or the Count, that's for sure. Captain Cosmic was also the bomb. Miss ya Bob!

This was a big part of my childhood. In Billings,MT we got KTVU on Saturday nights at about 11:00pm. Bob Wilkins and John Stanley were great hosts. You can buy DVDs of their shows online if you look for them. The even have original TV commercials from the 70s.

Man, I wish I would have known that! I moved from Miles City, Mt to Billings in 1977 then to Calif in 1984. All those years in Billings I could have been watching Creature Features! My whole life I have always felt I missed out on growing up with Creature Features.

I used to watch this show all the time as a kid. All the scary movies I can remember watching on TV where on Creature Features. Watching him as a kid, I didn't get his humor, but watching some of the clips now, he is hilarious! I was really missing out on his wit as a kid. Miss him and the show.

John Stanley took it over after what Bob Wilkins left by January of 1979 to September of 84 Being reborn by Crowhaven Studios in Windsor CA where Vincent Van Dahl and the tall Afro-American negritian butler Livingston and the Victorian silent lov Tangella is doing today! Keeping up that "Creature Features" spirit!!
