Hi! Yes. If you mean when I’m on the Chord sequencer track, then the first square of each horizontal line is set to the chord I’m showing in the display. The subsequent squares to the right of the first one represent the length/duration of that chord. Confusingly, the long horizontal line that you see right across the middle is just showing the ‘root’ note of the scale you have set. This helps helps when navigating up/down the octaves. It’s not immediately obvious on the video as the colours aren’t represented clearly but that root note line is a different colour so it is easy to distinguish when you’re in front of it. It’s one of those things that looks complicated when you’re not quite sure what you’re looking at but does actually make a lot more sense in use. Just takes a short while to get used to the workflow. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for commenting!

Nice video! When you play the chord keyboard, do you know what the white buttons that light up represent? Cheers

Is there a reason why when I press the Step Chord button it doesn’t stay lit, or open the Step Chord page? If I hold it, it goes to the Chord Global page, but tapping it doesn’t do anything. I also noticed your Hold button stays lit, but mine does not stay lit.

Good question. I’ve just checked - the Step Chord page will only show if the sequencer type is set to Chord. In other instances, you can hold a step on the sequencer itself and when pressing Step Chord it will show you the probability (and other) settings for that step. Hope that helps.

@@seanelliotmusic thanks for the response. My sequencer is actually already set to chord, but the Step Chord button doesn’t flash when I press it, so it must be something else. I made a topic on the Oxi Forum, so hopefully the manufacturer has an answer.

It might be worth checking if the firmware has an update available. There’s been quite a few updates. If you haven’t updated recently that could solve it if it’s not acting as expected.

Can you play a key controller into it with polyphonic aftertouch and record the midi into the Oxi ? or does it just do steps?
@seanelliotmusic Жыл бұрын
Good question! You can definitely record midi into it from external source - it does have a midi in via usb or mini jack. I’ve not tried poly aftertouch so I don’t know if it records that. Probably not because you only have access to notes and cc data on the Oxi for midi. I can test it though as I have a Hydrasynth with poly aftertouch. I’ll look into it.

@@seanelliotmusic Thank you. I have a hydrasynth on the way. Would be great to know if the Oxi or Hapax handles it better.
@seanelliotmusic Жыл бұрын
@@anonymous_friend so the Oxi does not record aftertouch info, poly or otherwise based on a quick test I did. I think the Hapax is more suited for midi stuff so that is more likely to do what you want. I mostly use Oxi to sequence Modular stuff and it’s superb at that. The Oxi developers are very responsive - you can ask on their forum to see if it’s planned at any point.

Question: you are playing chords by pressing buttons on the grid, live, but can you also sequence the chord progressions? or do you have to press the grid live transposing/harmonizing?
@seanelliotmusic2 жыл бұрын
It’s all sequenced in this video. There is a mode on the Oxi where you can play the chords live, but here I have arranged them in a sequence pattern. Each block or square on the grid can be a chord of your choosing - you can adjust which chord type from the menu and the actual chord root is governed by where you place it. I.e. which note on the grid it’s placed on. Once these chords are saved in the pattern, any ‘Harmony’ tracks will follow the notes of those chords. Hope that makes sense. I haven’t actually tried getting a Harmony track to follow live triggered chords. I’m not sure if it actually will do it. I will test it.

@@seanelliotmusic thanks sean, I just got my oxi yesterday, still much to learn, so I might come back with more questions in the near future ;)!
