How many long poles go on each shelf and what do you do with the wire loop on the end? I need help 😢

2 long poles for each side. The two poles are assembled resulting in one longer pole for each side. I think I am remembering this correctly. The pole with the wire on the end, goes into the pole without the wire on the end (that is similar in length). This results in one long pole that slips into the shelf.
