Hi Jennifer! I just love your videos. And when you said "maybe the forest is breathing" because of the mist, I almost cried. I love trees, so the forest is a very special and magical place for me and the thought of it breathing only makes it that much better. Thank you for taking us on such a beautiful hike with you. The views from the top were spectacular. Be safe and God bless!!

@@JenniferLupine actually I ran in to a couple of folks on the way down who did not have a working flashlight; and there was a couple of steeper more slippery spots on the trail during my visit. As far as I know they made it down safely.

@@BackpackerDiaries Whew, it does get dark early in the winter, maybe 4:30, and it starts to get dark about 3:30, especially in the forest, so it can catch people by surprise! Good story - thanks!

More great views of the sound and another beautiful forest Jennifer. Are the western hemlocks dying from the hemlock wooly adelgid like the hemlocks in the southern Appalachians?
@JenniferLupine
@JenniferLupine 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Bryan - so far, as far as I know, we don’t have any local issues affecting Western Hemlocks... but there a ‘pine bark beetle’ problem in E Washington - can they treat your Hemlocks at all?
@BryanDeLay
@BryanDeLay 5 жыл бұрын
That's very interesting Jennifer, because the hemlock wooly adelgid came from Japan into Washington state and worked its way across country to the southern Appalachians. Yes, they are treating some of the hemlocks in the Great Smoky Mountains NP, but there are hundreds of thousands hemlocks dying in the area. They are such beautiful trees and so sad to see 500 hundred year old hemlocks dying.
@JenniferLupine
@JenniferLupine 5 жыл бұрын
@@BryanDeLay I’ll do some further checking on it - I agree that’s so sad to see the lovely old trees dying... We just don’t notice Hemlock trees dying in our local woods...
