What would be the best area to stay in if I am flying into Gatwick but flying out of London Heathrow and on to Rome? I want to be close to the sights and sounds but not too far away from the airport if possible.
@ShaiExploresDaily

@@NYTRUCKINGPRINCESS Ideally I would say anything between zones 1-3, Zone 1 is by the sites but can be very expensive - Shoreditch, Old Street, Piccadilly, Waterloo, Kings across etc. Zones 2-3 will be areas like Camden, Stratford, Bethnal Green, Fulham, Islington, Clapham, Notting Hill etc, still close but cheaper than some 1

My wife and I are planning to visit London next month, for the first time in over 20 years. I am just a little bit puzzled regarding price capping on public transport. The price caps are showing as £4.95 (bus) and £7.70 (underground, zones 1 and 2) .. If I took 3 or 4 journeys on the underground and 3 or 4 bus journeys in a single day would I end up paying £4.95 + £7.70 for the day ? If that's the case, it would seen sensible to perhaps have one day only using the underground and the next for example only the bus, so paying £7.70 for one day and £4.95 the next. Are these caps the exact same with a normal contactless UK bank card ? Regards from Whitley Bay

Hi Brian, thanks for contacting me. That would be the price yes if you stayed in those tube zones and used the buses. A lot of places in central London are walking distance so you might not be catching the train and bus as often as you think. These caps are the exact same on contactless as it is on the Oyster cards. Thank you. I am from Canada and would like to know if using a contactless card has a daily cap limit. (If I take 7 trips in a day will it charge me 7X (1 trip cost)? Thank you

Hi Stephen, thanks for watching and contacting me. So contactless cards do have both daily and weekly cap limits. This depends on what zones you are travelling in, the further out you travel from zone 1 increases the contactless cap. Please click the following link for the full cap prices. - city-guide.london/transport/contactless-cards.php Im here to help if you need me and please subscribe if you haven’t already.

Great and informative video. Also if I use the tube and bus is there a max limit if i were to use the contactless card like visa or mastercard. I know that there is a max limit if i use the osyter card where, if i travel a lot using the metro or bus there is a cap off. Or is there a cap off only when i use the metro? Any information you can provide would be helpful since i will be traveling to London on February. Thank you

Thanks for watching, there is a cap for contactless cards just like with the Oyster cards with the buses and trains. For buses, the cap is the same for oyster and contactless, whereas for the trains it’s slightly different. Please click the following link to work out the amount based on what zones you are travelling in - tfl.gov.uk/fares/find-fares/tube-and-rail-fares/pay-as-you-go-caps#on-this-page-1 Please subscribe if you haven’t already.

Hi Shai, quick question. What's the best payment option to travel from High Wycombe to Canary Wharf? Is it to buy a one day paper travelcard? Can this be used in the London tube as well from Baker street to Canary Wharf? Or is to purchase an advance ticket from Trainline to travel till Marylebone and then use contactless to pay for the tube? Many thanks for your help.
@ShaiExploresDaily
@ShaiExploresDaily Жыл бұрын
Hi my friend, it’s best to go to High Wycombe station and buy a 1 day return ticket to London Zones 1-6, this ticket will allow you to travel into London and use the tubes and buses. It’s a multi-use ticket. If you have a railcard you can also get one third off the cost of your ticket. I hope that helps, please subscribe if you haven’t already.

Yo, how do i prove ive paid when i use a contactless card to a ticket inspector? Never seen any when using contactless, but just wondering.
@ShaiExploresDaily
@ShaiExploresDaily 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Josh, the way it works is that when the machine scans your card, it puts another zero-value transaction on there (like the transaction that happens when you first touch in). Then, overnight, when the balances are reconciled and the day's fares deducted, if it turns out that card wasn't used to touch in before the inspector checked it, it takes off a Revenue Inspection Charge (the equivalent of a Penalty Fare.) I hope that helps :) thanks for checking out my channel, please subscribe as it helps push my channel.

Hi Dilon, thanks for the question. please get a Oyster card for each adult, if your child is under 11 then travel is free. If they are between 11 and 17 then buy a child’s travel card for whatever zones you are using.

Do you have to register your contactless card on the TFL website before using it ? and is their a difference in prices / caps if the contactless card is registered with TFL or not ?
@ShaiExploresDaily
@ShaiExploresDaily 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Aref, you don’t have to register it to use it but if you want to chase refunds etc then it’s best to make an account. Being registered makes no difference to price etc. I hope that helps, thanks for watching the video, please subscribe if you can :).

Hi Shai. One quick question. I`ll be visiting London from abroad with my wife and 9 year old kid so, to avoid extra charges by using my contactless card, I`ll be getting an oyster card. So, here`s my question. Can I just buy one oyster card and tap in twice for myself and my wife on each journey we make and is it correct that children under 11 travel for free if they are accompanied by a paying adult? Thanks in advance.
@ShaiExploresDaily

Hi Alan, thanks for watching, you and your wife need one oyster card each but your child can travel for free, thats correct. Please top up the oyster cards to a decent daily amount that will help you get around.

If we recharge oyster card for one month. Can we use 2 person. One person use physical oyster card or another person use oyster contactless card??

It’s one Oyster Card per person, either you both by an Oyster Card, both use contactless or you both can do one each.

I’m from Dublin and I’m going to visit London in two weeks time and I was wondering could I use my Revolut card (contactless card) to tap in and tap off? And would it work abroad? Edit: Fun Fact. In Ireland we have an equivalent to an Oyster card, it’s called a Leap Card. The only difference is our smart cards are green not blue. So I obviously get the gist of how the Oyster works. 😂👍
@ShaiExploresDaily
@ShaiExploresDaily 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen, I hope you are well. Yes you can use your Revolut card on the Tube but it won’t work unless if your balance is less than £10. It is charged at the same capping prices as any other contactless card or oyster. I hope your trip goes well, I’m here to help if you need me.
