I meet this man in Brisbane about 17 years ago. I was in a place called Red cross night cafe. it was a place for young street kids to go and get a meal and a shower and hang out for a lil while. Tim came in one night. He was quietly introduced to me as just another person doing a volunteer shift. when he said he was a photographer and offered to show me his work I was intrigued. When he showed me the book and I recognised iconic photos straight away. I knew right then I was in the presence of a living legend. I had a few interactions with this man. he was genuine and a good guy. he was likely a bit larikin in his younger days which made relating to him easier. I was sadden by his death and looked for any services to be able to pay some respects. I am glad to find this video and to be able to take the opportunity to say. Vale Tim Page

Me, a Brit, who shared the same generation, but never the experience of this one off genius, in the sense of the word genius being a true original. Plus all the work he did after Vietnam by going back again to highlight the decimation left behind. A man with true grit. RIP.

I did two tours of South Vietnam in the Australian Regular Army, as an Infantry soldier, in 3RAR. It is good to hear that we (Australians) were so highly regarded for the way we fought the war, as opposed to the way that the Americans did. To be so respected & remembered after all this time by such a man as Tim Page is indeed an honour. It is so sad to learn that he is no longer with us. Everything that he said about the Diggers is true. We should not have been in the war, but we Australians conducted ourselves honourably & with pride in our craft & discipline. May you Rest In Peace Tim Page, you certainly deserve to, you have earned the right.

I learned about Tim from Michael Herr's "Dispatches". From that I attended the production of "Dispatches" at the National Theatre in London in 1979. I have read and own all of his books. I met Tim at "PhotoFreo" in Fremantle in 2012 and it was a great experience. Vale Tim Page, so much more than a photographer.... Since then

I've just found this. Wonderful how you've made it Tim and only Tim, being so engaging and vivid in his storytelling with no interference. Well done! Chris (Sykes - Arena, 'Mention in Dispatches')

I have a number of books about photographers in Vietnam but somehow I missed Tim Page's although there are frames he took in some of them. A remarkable character whose iconoclastic views will be missed. Thank you for making this video and posting here.

Loved his work. His photography speaks for itself. But his books too leave a lasting impression. 78 is a great run for anyone, let alone someone who spent so much time working in warzones. Rest In Peace.
