Well done young man!!! When I went through my apprenticeship a Dutch carpenter from the old country taught me to use a hacksaw blade as they were thin. Now I use a thin kerf finish saw from Germany that really works well. Great job explaining “ how to “ perform accurate joinery. Thank you!!

A channel you might enjoy is Live Free Or Die Trying. Michael is in Sweden and is building his own log cabin. For a little while a few kit cabins went up around here over forty years ago. I like yoyr scoffed brackets. We used althread on our conventional framed walls. How are you mounting the brackets?

Howdy Francois- they are attached with all thread with a block of wood on the outside drilled for y’all thread to go through with a washer and nut I put a screw down close to the bottom of the up right piece so it will stay vertical. God bless

I've never seen anyone build as done Wondering why such huge gaps between planks, Do you remove spacers or place something in between them Or do you collapse them with a glue in between Would make for a really tight closed shell. Or do you leave as is

Howdy y’all- the gaps are filled with insulation and chinking after the logs settle. The blocking stays in and is chinked over. I normally build with live edge logs and you see the natural shapes of the logs which is how the older cabins were built. Nowadays with access to sawmills people will get them squared up and leave a gap between the logs to copy what the old school log cabins looked like. Howdy y’all- it would be rather difficult to cut the mortice and tenon with a circular saw. I don’t know of a circular saw that would cut more than 6 5/16” deep. I can cut it pretty close with a chainsaw and clean it up. If you are talking about fitting the splice, I have used a circular saw for that. Thank you so much for watching the video. God bless
