I JUST got done doing my edge retention testing on it. It performed like 3cr13 with a good heat treatment. 2 1/2 hours of nonstop cardboard cutting on an 18° per side mirrored edge. It did exactly as well as I expected.

Thank you for your information. I guess I am learning a thing or two as I start my channel. Very interesting. Appreciate your dedication. That’s a lot of cutting.

Believe me that was one of the shorter sessions. D2 can go 4 hours on a factory edge. The orange D2 Ozark Trail went for 7 hours on the factory edge.

I bough like 5 of them as beater knives and dulled one a bit for my 10 year old son so he can get used to handling a pocket knife. He loves knives and wants to start a collection so a cheap $5 made him support excited. Well with the money.

That's awesome. They are perfect beater knives. I have a few already.

The orange one has steel liners and that makes it heavier, even though the liners have been drilled to lighten them. It adds rigidity to the panels and makes the whole package thicker.

The blade steel makes the orange one a no brainer. I like them both.

I plan on changing the color of both of them as I have seen many doing it. I like them both for the price.

I picked one up the other day. I love this thing! I also have the orange original. I took the white one and used RIT dye and made it like a really dark purple. It came out amazing. For anybody wanting a different color of this knife I would suggest trying RIT dye. You should be able to get it at your local Walmart or possibly the grocery store. My local Ingles had it.

I may have to try this if I can get myself a second knife. I’ll go on a hunt this weekend. I would love it in black to be honest. Thank you so much for the advice!

That's what I did, with blue and black for a graded transition from blue handle to black blade. It came out awesome. kzbin.infom3AJA-ds8kg?si=xsTliSylcbY14_5i

I bought a few the other day and realized how good it was and went back and got 10 more… My store was down to about two dozen white ones left. Better get them before they’re gone.

Yeah I had to travel to find them. My local Walmart doesn’t have them yet

I prefer to carry white because it is slim. Orange is great but bulky and a tad clunky. And white is only 5$. Orange has been tucked away as back up.

Hey I respect that. Everyone has their own preference. For some reason, when something gets too light/slim, I tend to not like it as much. I like to feel it in my hand.

Can you confirm the blade steel on the new one?
@DaleDoesStuff.

3.25" Stainless Steel. As stated on the package.

It performed exactly like 3cr13 in my edge retention testing, but OT does not identify the steel
@DaleDoesStuff.
@DaleDoesStuff. 11 күн бұрын
Interesting. I was just saying that the package says “3.25” Stainless steel blade” so maybe by this statement I am being mislead. Do you have a video on this @knivesiguess
@knivesiguess
@knivesiguess 11 күн бұрын
I just finished the live stream doing the testing. Tomorrow or the day after I'll have the video about the results up. A different set of Ozark Trails had 3cr listed on Walmart's website and everything I've seen from this blade between edge retention and how gummy the steel felt while sharpening it falls right in line with 3cr.
@flatasacueball6326
@flatasacueball6326 9 күн бұрын
It does perform very much like 3cr13mov. It's soft, whatever it is. Don't expect good edge retention, and be prepared to use a light touch when sharpening.

How do you know it has ceramic bearings?
@DaleDoesStuff.
@DaleDoesStuff. 11 күн бұрын
You know what. I thought I had found that information but now I can not. I have been searching since your comment and I am actually thinking I am wrong. I may need to take this knife apart so I can correct myself. Whoops. It's like the intro too.. lmfao

Another video took it apart and said it has white plastic bearings… he tried switching blades from the white to the orange and it did not work…

@DaleDoesStuff. It has washers. No bearings at all. Surprising, given the smooth action, but when I had mine apart, I checked. Just black washers (maybe nylon).

Bugout "killer"? No f#@%!#@ way!! It's a cool knife for $5, but don't get carried away. I could practically use a bugout to cut the edge off of the Ozark Trail. That's how much softer the blade steel is.
@DaleDoesStuff.
@DaleDoesStuff. 8 күн бұрын
Just a figure of speech. But I would agree with you. This could in no way replace the bugout. But for the price, many will opt to buy a few to destroy.
