For what it's worth - there is an adapter available that allows the one pound propane cylinders to be used with the tiny backpacking stoves. That would likely provide longer endurance and better performance in cold weather.

Great demo. I've never used butane (I understand it won't vaporize much below 35F). I'll still have to go for the propane. Either one you HAVE to be aware of these stove's stability (or lack of). Now I have to fix some sausage and eggs.

This was a awesome review, I was looking at one of these for long fishing days to whip up some lunch, I liked the bigger one for stability aspect but did not like how pan would start to slide across the surface, the small one is super compact and would take up allot less space in my bag but I can see your food ending up in the dirt pretty easily lol being my first time I'm leaning towards the bigger one, also A++ on the egg flip if that was me I'd be having gritty eggs with a side of pine straw for breakfast 😂

I used to find those plastic stands keep getting lost. So I got a 2in plywood Circle about 12 inches in the round. Cut a hole to accommodate the 14 or 16 oz tank. And used that as the tanks stand. I never used a small propane tank. But it looks like it would benefit from that too.

Blended fuel is terrible in the cold. Butane boils at 31 degrees Fahrenheit. So if the air temperature is below 31 degrees the butane will stay liquid and will not vaporize thus rendering the alcohol/butane fuel mix useless. I'll stick with propane.

+MrKfq269 luckily it was in the high 60's on this day.. I have an MSR stove that I use for cold conditions, or I just start a fire. I don't live in Canada, so I don't worry about that too much.

Late to the party, ya have to think how old that peak 1 design is. I almost bought one for the AT when I was 16, 32 yrs ago. The reason for 3 legs on most all canister stoves is a simple one. 3 legs can always stabilize, even odd shapes. Say a warped pan, or a stainless bowl even. Just like how carbon skillets are domed up in the middle to allow for the heat to flatten it. Think about a lot of grills, smokers and such. Weber smokers and grills all have 3 legs, Lodge sportsman's grill, 3 legs. Never 4 poles over a campfire, always 3. 4 legs make things wobbly almost every time in an imperfect natural world.

I picked up the Ozard trail single burner and tried it out. It heated up water quickly, will update as i use it more. Picked Ozark over Peak1 since i am not yet backpacking and more campsites with truck near by so no concern about weight and space plus i like the larger space on top. Walmart had both with similar pricing so i guess its more about how you camp and weight and space.

Great video, I have both and recommend the Ozark. The coleman peak 1 has 3 support wings for the skillet to lay on. The skillet always falls unless you are constantly holding the skillet. If the peak 1 added added another support, it would be fantastic. I have an adapter to use the green cans with the peak 1. The peak 1 is better for back country camping for a few days if limited space. But again, I don't like the instability of the Peak 1 at all and if you can take the Ozark, better option.. I saw at walmart, a wok type pan made by Ozark I think which would eliminate the sliding as shown on the video.. Also, i like the peak 1 that you can set canned food on it an cook directly, then eat out of the can. Health wise, I think it's alright...

Modern food cans have a plastic polymer liner inside them. Not what I'd choose to cook in if I had a choice. Empty out a can of beans or something, rinse it well and let it dry, then set it on a burner (with proper ventilation ofc) and watch the smoke rise-- that's the stuff that would be leaching into your food.

Ahh I see your M.O. for this video! You get to eat TWICE! Try using a skillet that does not have a handle attached. Handle is what makes it unstable. You can use a pot gripper to flip and such the skillet. Propane one works in sub freezing temperatures whereas the butane one either don't work or struggles. I wonder if that propane tank base attachment fits the butane tank base?
