This is my Ozito 2400W Silent Garden Shredder Review
In the video, you will notice I do something that no-one should ever do and that is I didn't pull the power cord while trying to remove the blockage. Please, please always disconnect the power whenever doing maintenance on your shredder.

I purchased the same silent unit and had the same issues. I adjusted the roller again and eased it off . It appeared much better. The best plant was the bottle brush branches. Branches with side branches can cause a blockage. I was reasonable happy but a degree of commonsence is required. Reading the instruction tip, is to let the material dry for a few days. A high pitched sound is audible by the operator only but it is a strange sound 🤔 . The machine is ok for the price but not like a 20 hp machines which cost a lot more . Thank you for your genuine review.

How's it going? You still use it? Contemplating getting one in next couple days. From a lot of the reviews I've seen about these shredders is it's best to do it when the wood is dry. Apparently when wood is green the likely hood of blocking is a lot higher.. Have you tried shredding dry material?
@MyBonzerChannel
@MyBonzerChannel 4 жыл бұрын
What a good question! I haven't tried shredding dried material at all. The material in this video was freshly cut. I copied the following from the manual. I hope it is of some help. • Branches and twigs should be shredded shortly after they are cut. They become extremely hard once dry and the maximum cutting diameter is reduced. • Garden waste such as fresh foliage, creepers and vines contain a lot of moisture, this can result in material sticking to the cutter head. Such material should be allowed to dry for a few days before being fed into the shredder. • Always check material before shredding, ensure it does not contain any stones or nails as this may severely damage the shredder. Oh, yes, I still use it 😀

@@MyBonzerChannel yeah okay, that's maybe why that got blocked a lot because the leaves were to green. Have you tried the thicker 40mm branches to see if it handles what it says it can?
@MyBonzerChannel

@@perentee77 I'm afraid not, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was able to suck those suckers in. Hopefully, someone has tried it and can let us know how it went.

G'day Mike, it does have a overload switch but my hand would have to well jammed in there for that to cut in 🤪. I know I shouldn't have shoved my hand up there unless I unplug it but we all do stupid things don't we?

Had mine for 5 years. If you munch green material it will clog. It does allow you to fit more in a bin. On dry material it’s great and making wood chips. I tried a little too hard with mine and the blade fractured. It’s made from cast aluminium. I bought a spare from Bunnings Special Orders but Ozito have no instructions to replace same. In fact they don’t recommend it! So why sell spares? Homer Simpson must work there. Anyhow it is screwed together so taking it apart is just time consuming. I love a challenge, at least Ozito didn’t state no repairable parts refer to service agent.

He Geoffrey, it definitely works best with the dry stuff. I'm impressed that you got 5 years out of it. Did you use it a fair bit in that time? The instructions on most things these days pretty well sucks anyway. I think that's what makes KZbin so popular. I now some of my most popular videos are my 'how to' videos. If you get it to work that would make for a popular video 😀

@@MyBonzerChannel I don’t have a large garden and it is only used domestically. Saying that I’m surrounded by bushes and shrubs. Every spring is a major time for me. I also use it for neighbours gardens to reduce volume for their bins. It only failed because of a particularly tough creeper was being put through at its maximum diameter. It jammed then the aluminium casting failed. Ozito have used Y type security screws on the cover. I will end up drilling these out and replacing them I’m sure. I’m annoyed at Ozito for selling me a spare part then saying I shouldn’t repair it myself. I might get consumer affairs involved.

Hi Geoffrey, drilling those screws out could be a pain. Mitre 10 have a security bit set that may have the one you need. I'm sure Bunning's would have something similar?

@@MyBonzerChannel I’ve got every security bit imaginable but not that one. Also I’m not sure the bit holder extension will go into the covers hole. I’ll try tomorrow. If not I was going to get the Dremel and cut the cover off and then refit it in bits. It’s only decorative in any case.

I've always been surprised at how many people buy Dremel accessories at work. Not ever having used one it's always seemed like a toy and yet we have diamond bits and cut off wheels. Simply amazing stuff.

It looks like you bought the wrong one. The one you have is designed for palms. You were not shredding palms in this video which maybe why it was clogging up.

You had me worried for awhile there. 😕 I had a quick look on their site which said "The Ozito SSH-2440 Silent Shredder is ideal for shredding garden material including dry plant waste, twigs, sticks, and branches up to 40mm thick." Looks like being able to dhred palms ia a bonus. 😃

Did I not mention something of the sort in the video? I'm pretty sure I said my previous Rapid Shredder did a better job of shredding. I've also found it clogs more often if the debris covers the outlet. Still, I prefer it over the Rapid Shredder.

I'm not too fussed because it's so much easier to use than my last shredder as it sucks everything in where I had to feed the stuff in the last one. Everything I shred goes in the wheelie bin so I don't care what it looks like.

There's a cutter adjustment screw on the side....Mine is an older model and using a allen key which was provided you tighten until you see slithers of metal coming through. I have a very large gum tree in the back and it's always dropping big limbs but in most cases I can clean it up in a few hours with the 40mm branches easily gobbled up.
