Ozito MIG welder upgrade Europlug

Good job, not a bad welder for learning to weld, although duty cycle I find isn’t that good with thicker material. Went to Unimig and never looked back.

Hi Fadi, thanks for the comment. You are correct it's only an enntry level welder and the duty cycle is only a couple of minutes wending thicker material, after that the thermal cutout light comes on and it's time for a break lol. If i knew what I know now I'd deffinately have gone for a higher quality machine, but it still works and doesn't owe me anything so I'll keep useing it until it carks it. Like / Share / Subscribe!

Excellent video. I have a Cigweld 135 mig with an attached 3 metre torch and it drives me crazy! Adding the Euro fitting looks fairly straightforward. But unfortunately the Cigweld 135 also must have the cheapie gas solenoid inside the torch. I looked for a solenoid inside the welder, but no dice. After closely looking at your Ozito, I think they are the exact same machine, just a different colour and different badge. Everything else looks identical.

Hi Greg, thanks for the comment. I think you are correct, the Cigweld 135 mig looks like the exact same unit with different branding. I bet they are identical inside, give the Euro plug conversion a go - it's worth the effort just to have the extra-long leads and a much lighter trigger.

@@MaximumDIY Yeah I’m not as good as you with the electrical side of things. I got lost and my eyes were rolling around in my head when you started talking about ohms and resistors etc 😂. Would love to get rid of the attached torch but it’s a “bridge too far” I’m afraid.

Hey mate, great video. Buddy of mine upgraded and gave me his one of these. If i was just going to run it gasless i wouldn't have to add in the gas solenoid etc? Ground cable on this one is all chewed up so have to replace it. Might as well make them longer and detachable if I can.

the patch leads you made what size conectors did you use inside hole size and what ohm was the 5w current limiting resistors thank you

Hey great video . May I ask what did you find wrong about the machine earlier in the video you said your machine not welding properly and when you found out why it isn't you show some connections to be I presumed wrong. Can I ask if you can further explained what was that you found wrong. Thank you

Oh yeah, the original problem was caused by a loose connection on the negative terminal inside the welder. I couldn't see this until I disassembled the unit. Once tightened it's much better. The 4m long leads and gun are a bonus. In my experience, welding with flux core as compared to gas welding, gas welding is much cleaner, easier and I'd never go back to non-gas welding having tried them both. Hope that helps.

Do they have detachable ports for flux core mig wire ie no gas?

Yep, the new euro style mig gun has a removable gas nozzle and replacable contact tips.

Sir, I have the same welding machine (Ozito MWR-135). Recently my selector switch got stuck (jammed) and I tried to repair it but I failed. Now I am not in a position to operate it. I just can not find a selector switch of that type. So I thought of connecting two toggle switches to select the current. Could you help me to connect the 4 transformer tapings by a small diagram?

Hi Kusman That's a shame about your selection switch - unfortunately I don't have a schematic for this welder. I would also advise caution as this is dealing with mains voltage and would be dangerous. To get up and running, I would advise hunting around for a cheap Ozito MWR-125 unit with a broken wire feed and swapping out the switch. Thanks for the comment - Like / Share / Subscribe

I Changed one over to Gas and Used a LPG Car Gas Valve $12 .

Can you connect a euro TIG rig and see if it would work?

Unfortunately I don't have a euro tig connection that would fit. but if it did fit, you'd still need to scratch start the arc and probably burnout the tungsten from the inrush current. Most tig welders have a soft ramp up current and high frequency start for ease of use and extended consumable life.

for material thickness etc use the miller pocket welder helper app on your phone. If you dont like the idea of using the smartphone app. My welder the duralloy191 (which I love dearly) has a chart in the manual www.duralloy.net.au/assets/171-191multimig-user-manual.pdf online
