Hi Andy, I just bought my router table and set it up yesterday, with the Ozito plunge router. I found going in from the back of the table to access the collet works perfectly, as there are no obstructions that way. So unless it's mounted on a table without back access, this should work on the current generation of the Ozito Router table. I agree, going in from the front is fraught with obstacles and nigh on impossible!

Hi Andy, talk about same/same problems. I hadn't seen your video before purchasing the table, only to find that both of my routers were too big to fit the table. Went and bought the Ozito router fitted it, only to find because the cord comes out the bottom of the router, it was hitting hard up against the cupboard I had built to take the table. Bought a scissor lift, but not strong enough to lift the router. Raised the height of the table by timber 2x4's and use a car jack. Works well now, but yes Ozito need to think of the engineering side of things.

Hi Andy Thank you for identifying all the problems regarding ozitos' router table,. As also I have purchased many of their power tools. However, it is crazy that you needed to re-engineer ozitos 'router table to make it functional, after purchasing this product. Considering once you have changed the engineering of the ozito router table. As a result, you make the warranty invalid, what a stuff up by ozito. Thank Martin

I also bought this router table today, 08-05-2020, and came across several problems, with a bit of brain power, I now have adapted it to suit a Mk 3 triton table top, to adjust and remove router bits, i simply remove the triton table top and change the router bits. As for securing the ozito router, did take a bit of thinking, but with making 4 own designed brackets, I now use the router like an extrension unit,, also, I changed all normal nuts to nylex nuts, as vibration, tho not much, was a tad problem, I also found the nuts n bolts used to secure the wings on each end of the main router table, were changed to flat top bolts and while using a pair of rat tail pliers, tightened each bolt correctly. Other than that, another good tool from Ozito.

Thanks for the video Andrew, I too am a weekend woodworker, I also buy Ozito tools & always found them to be great tools for what I do, but was stupid enough to think the same way you did, I purchased the Ozito router table as it was cheap but good enough for what I do, the router I had was too big as well, so I (as you did) I thought the right way to go would be to buy an Ozito router, wrong, I came across all the issues you state in the video, extremely frustrating especially the router being too long, WTF, I mounted mine temporally to a workmate table, which works fine until I set-up in a more permanent position, once again thank you for the adjustments to make it work better

I just got an Ozito router and decided I needed a table for it so I was going to Bunnings today but now I have to measure the router and make sure it fits their bloody table. 🙄 I also have a sliding mitre saw and got a stand for it. That also has the stupid long bolts that scrapes the wood when you try and put a long piece of timber in and cut it. I've also made unpleasant gouges when removing a piece after cutting and rendering it unusable for purpose. I tried mounting the bolt with the 457mt thread pointing down under the stand but then you can't do the nut up because the "shaft" is too high and too narrow so I have to purchase a deep socket to try and put the nut on. Like this router issue it is just annoyingly stupid and I am beginning to wish that I went with another platform even though it would have been a lot more expensive. Yes they are nice and cheap but the little issues that pop up drive one nuts or in my case more nuts. *Thank You* for sharing this video Andy, it is most appreciated. I hope you haven't had any further issues with the Ozito range. 👍👍

Thanks for the tips Andrew. I've got the same combination and have hardly used it because of the poor design you've highlighted. (I mounted mine on part of an old door and cut the hole in it for the router body.) That was so long that I've lost the flippin' spanner they supplied - which means even more farnarkling when changing bits.

the other problem I notice before I opened the box is that the router doesn't fit under the table, the cable at the bottom of the router makes the table pivot. also the mounting design doesn't look sturdy enough to hold the router in position, the clamps will probably allow it to vibrate out of positing when its running. I loved this video haha I wanted to make one myself
@nicholaspjames4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your video Andy. I agree with others - the springs need to be removed. Strangely, Ozito is missing in action. No response to what you have said 3 years ago and no changes to the manual for the product. The method of attachment for the router is clearly deficient. The brackets don't fit well. The manual should be rewritten.

Andrew great video, thanks for posting. I'm just wondering though, wouldn't a smaller trim router be a better fit for this table? Ozito make a trim router that is pretty much a carbon copy of the Ryobi one. The trim router is far more accessible in position under the table, and certainly looks like it would have much more space to work under there. Yeah less powerful, but for weekend hackers it would suffice. It doesn't have all that spring mechanism to get in the way, and the trim router completely detaches from its base with one hand nut, so changing bits could be done completely disconnected from the table (just leave the base sleeve of the trim router permanently attached to the table). Just a thought on whether you considered the smaller router is all? I'm in the same boat as you, starting to collect different Ozito products in the garage too! So damn cheap compared to the big boys, and I've never had an issue with their quality. I'm glad I found your video though prior to purchasing. I have a old plunge router at home that I was considering using with this table... but now it looks like that's not going to happen. I'm also wondering if Mr Ozito ended up contacting you about this video :) ? Sending you a trim router in the mail so you could post an update video would be a sound idea ;). I'm already a happy Ozito customer, and even I now have reservations in buying this. One can only wonder how many others have thought the same (actually, video count is at 2394... so gotta be in the thousands that have seen it while considering a purchase!). I think I'm still going to give this table a go... but try to install with a trim router and see how I go. Thanks again for taking the time to make it, its been very helpful in researching my next purchase.
@xamper75436 жыл бұрын
Chris McLean I tried using the trim router as I had that before I bought the table. There’s absolutely no way to attach it. So I went out and bought the same router here that Andrews got only to run into the exact same problems plus more. I’m just gonna go and attempt to make a router lift for the trim router and attach it to my work bench and see how that goes
@ZhongjieChen6 жыл бұрын
The trim router wouldn't match the holes on the bench. You may go and build your own router table to install the trim router (search on youtube, there are heaps). Otherwise, Andrew's solution will do the job.
@Abhinav17086 жыл бұрын
I've got the Aldi version where the router is bigger and really strong plunge springs but the table is pretty much the same. I mounted the table using a 2by4 pine piece so raised the router table a decent bit and was able to fit a scissor jack under to use as raise and lower mechanism. Changing the bloody bits is still a headache but I don't use the router too much so not too bad for the price.
@meccontrol38682 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your honest comments. I think it is better to make my own version rather than waste the money on this. I have the router itself and I know how difficult it is to change the bit or adjust the bit LOL.
@awakenedsapien99627 жыл бұрын
If you loosen the plunge springs you will get more space to use a spanner and its how you supposed to change the bits. Also i guess there is a mechanism you can take the actual router off from the plunge base thats attached to the table. Ive been happy with ozito but of course for the price you pay you dont get like makita or milwakee quality.
@MrGrantdw3 жыл бұрын
When you install a router upside down in a dedicated router table you are supposed too remove the springs on or in the router slides for easy height adjustments . Decent tables have screw mechanism that from the top of the able with an allen key you can change the height and they tell you to remove those springs or at least mine did. Also you are not meant to slide the bit up and down in the collet as if its too far out it can loosen and fly out causing potential injury and damage? I have seen some people with cheep setups like this use a car screw jack under the router to raise and lower it, that might help you if you don't want to remove the springs?
@sailingsjofagel5 жыл бұрын
The orange plastic bolt is gripping the router body into position, and it would be far easier to leave the router base plate fixed to the table, remove the router body from the base plate mechanism, and unlock the bit nut on the bench separate from the table... I'm doing that with my Bosch router on a home made table. (I like Ozito products too. and it's a shame they dropped the router table. I had to make my own instead)
@lawrenceedwards22463 жыл бұрын
Not forgiving the other faults in the design , why would you not lower the router via the height adjust to remove bit . I to have a few Ozito tools but thanks for heads up , I'm still going to purchase the router table and make the changes .

I bought this same table a Bunnings yesterday (6th Feb 2019), after asking for assistance at the tool shop. Boy was that a mistake. I was after a router and tool table to help me cut small channels for some laminate shelves in planks to make a model car display case. The Bunnings "Expert" steered me to an Ozito 855x335mm Router Table, and an Ozito 350w Laminate Trimmer. WHICH he said would fit just fine on the table. Remember, definition of an "Expert", EX is a has been, SPURT is a drip under pressure. Tried to assemble the table. Came up short 1 of the four bracket clamps for locking in the router device (Hmmm, small problem, maybe they can give me a replacement piece). Then tried to fit the laminate trimmer to the table, not a snowflakes chance in Hell that puppy was gonna fit the ?clamps or the table. And when I tried looking up help on internet, got diddly squat...... Solution. I am going back to Bunnings tomorrow, too politely explain my frustration with tools that DON'T. And ask for a refund on the grounds I was sold incomplete/defective items, AND an item totally NOT suited to what I needed and asked for. I have used OZITO drills and other power tools quite happily over many years, (I am 63yo) retired and trying my hand at some home handy Pop stuff, but after watching Andrews video, and experiencing the issues I have had today I will be thinking very hard before 1: Accepting the word of a Bunnings employee, 2: Trusting an OZITO tool again. Cheer from a not very impressed Ozito / Bunnings customer.
@Roulandus-le-Fartere5 жыл бұрын
This guy needs to read his router manual. When fixing a plunge router to a router table always disassemble the plunge springs from the router. You'll never be able to accurately adjust the bit height if you're fighting the springs. Further, with the springs gone the collar can then be raised above the mounting plate and bits changed above the table. This is true for all router table installations.

That's what happened to me. I thought I heard something hit the floor, but I wasn't sure. I put the bolt back in and I couldn't tension it against the leg. Then I looked on the floor and found a small steel pin. Inserted it in front of the bolt and - happy days. Same thing may have happened to you. Cheers Andy.

You brought up some really important points about your router table and some OZITO Products in general The table saws for instance are an atrocity. I don't think OZITO has a testing regime at all. I believe that most of the products returned to Bunnings are OZITO. When are they going to wake up. All companies that make the ozito products are just throwing them together because they're the 'cheap' brand.

You gotta rember this isn't really an Ozito router table, it's same router table all the cheap brands rebrand for their own. Check out Aldi's Workzone router table, identical but blue and yellow. The Ozito router doesn't even fit underneath this correctly, even at max depth (as in springs compressed to max) the router's cable creates a fifth leg to the table! Pretty damn hopeless, but pretty damn cheap, and u can work around most things to get what u need done. Perfect for the person who'll only use the setup a few times a year
