The only electric garden shedder I know that can handle palm fronds.

Thanks mate for the review. After seeing yours in action, I went out and bought one of these units today. Very impressed with it. Cheers.

These are great machines. I've had mine for 3 years now and use it every other weekend on all kinds of stuff from palms, tree pruning to weeds. It doesn't like the real green stuff but I use my lawn mower for the leaves and it's a perfect combo. Or drop and wait a couple of weeks before putting it through the machine.

Thanks for a sensational product review. I know for a fact that other brands of electric shredders fail dismally when it come to shredding Palm fronds

Quite impressed it pulled them through. Is it just me thinking a four-year-old could work out to spin the leaves the other way

Hi David normally the ends of the big very palm fronds are to big to fit through, so I'm in the habit of putting the thin end in first then stopping the shredder when it reaches the thick end. I then reverse the shredder to get it out. Some of the palm fronds in the video had the ends chopped off so I could have put them through the other way.

Watched this video as part of my research into shredders generally, then bought the Ozito about 2 months ago and it has been really excellent value. Thanks for your help.

Still going strong. Used it yesterday on a pile of bottle brush branches which was nice "snappy" material and made excellent mulch. For price, mobility and ease of use this machine would be hard to beat.

The cut adjustment screw eventually failed and I bought another new machine yesterday to use "in tandem". The first one crushes the thicker pieces before they are fed into the second machine for finer cutting. I think this will keep some excessive loads off the new machine. Put some fresh sappy apricot branches though today and the two-stage idea worked well. Great little machines !!

I feed the palms in this way too. On the really big ones, I break in half or close to, put in machine and then tear the last big part in half as it goes through the machine and it doesn't jam. Watch out for big Huntsman spiders, they seem to love that part of an old palm!!

why dont you put the palm fronds in the other way?
@dennistighe-drums3 жыл бұрын
Because doing it this way stops clogging as the more solid part of the frond pushes everything through

2 yrs on... is the ozito still going strong? Im looking at the bunnings range of mulchers and trying to decide on a good one for the price. I'm not usually first to jump at ozito products but interested in how this goes. Can you put the product through twice for a finer mulch?
@BarramundiDan7 жыл бұрын
dsr20631 putting it through again doesn't make the mulch finer

Cool. Those Palm fronds are annoying. I'm getting a mulcher. The wheelie bins aren't big enough for my garden waste

What's the maintenance like on them?
@BarramundiDan7 жыл бұрын
FIGJAM Hi. Minimal. The cutting wheel requires sharpening now an then. To do that you turn on the machine then turn a screw with an alum key until Iron filings start coming out the shoot. Then back of a little with the alum key.
