Missouri is half a southern state. Part of the state is midwestern but i-70 and down things change over quite quickly and then the whole southern third of the state is very southern.

The State itself is mostly all culturally southern and is historically a southern State, recognized as one of the Confederate States of America, and represented with the 12th star of the 13 on the Confederate Battle Flag. Kentucky being that 13th star on the flag. The accent flattens out in certain places, mostly in the cities, but despite that, is still culturally Southern. Missouran's from St. Louis would consider themselves as Midwestern, yet they share very southern ideas culturally and cuisine wise. These people have forgotten who they are and where they came from. Most of the state either considers themselves Southerners, which they are, or if called a Southerner by someone out of State, would not argue the fact. Now the people below that highway 70/Missouri River line, would ABSOLUTELY tell you to your face lol, that they are a southerner, and if called a Midwesterner, would be highly triggered. I've been in this State for a while now, and I've seen it firsthand. They will drop a person where they stand, if that person would dare call them Anything but a Southerner. Many folks in the extreme Northern counties, are just as passionate about their Southerness, because of the State to the North, Iowa being a true Midwest/Yankee State, they differentiate themselves from them...Sometimes also with a passion. And also, it's the middle to northern counties of Missouri that are actually called Little Dixie, with Little Dixie Lake and State Park being up there also, not far from Kingdom City Missouri. Little Dixie covers most of mid to Northern Missouri. But the entire State is just Dixie. Respectfully, Dividing a State into this or that, is kind of silly, especially when that State is historically and factually Southern. Lol, let the St. Louisans dupe themselves into believing that they are something that they are not. That place sucks anyway, and does not resemble the rest of the State.
