On models with keyless ignition, if the ign fuse is out it will throw a mil control code too. Symptom is the remote start does not function but the car starts / runs fine.

Newly subbed. I worked at a dealership for a bit where one of the cars had an air bag problem and instead of spending money to fix it the owner had the mechanic turn off the airbag light off completely. Always make sure the cluster lights turn on at the accessory position.

Good video, always frustrating to find a missing fuse...especially when you have something else in mind. Then there's the other factor when it comes from another shop, because you'd think it would have been addressed already...either way you got it fixed! Good video regardless, showing how the bulb CKT works and using bi-directional control to toggle it's ground side control on and off!

Yeah I understand completely trust me, chased an issue on many cars with an issue only to find out that the customer had removed a fuse and was nice enough to tell me after the fact. Sometimes going to the fuse first is not always how we approach it, but in the end it gets found...lol...makes us just think...WTF...then we wonder why it was removed.

All that for a fuse. Gezzz. But we got to learn something. I like that you add the animations, it helps me to follow along. I just purchased a used car and when I put the scanner on it the owner got nervous. Not because he was hiding something but because he didn't know what i was doing. I found it kind of funny. By the way, the car only had one minor code for the entertainment system. :)

Good video. That’s why I like to look at voltage on the wire. With a meter or scope hooked up on that brown/white wire there should be voltage when the computer isn’t commanding the light on and grounding the circuit. Making it a habit to always look at voltage can quickly point to issues like this. A test light hooked to positive shows the computer control but does nothing to show the 12v it’s supposed to be pulling to ground.

This is good information. But I got a weird situation. My check engine light works sometimes. Sometimes it don't come on at all. And sometimes it works normally. The scan tool shows no problems. But it seems like the light has a short in it.

If you fix a short in your car... will the check engine light start working? I changed all the bad light bulbs... And found a short that effects the Dome fuses and head lights fuses but lights and car works good. How bad can this problem cost me?

my friend has a 2004 gmc sierra 1500 pick up truck that doesn't want to start in the morning and afternoon unless its jumped....the alternator battery and starter are all good...i put my scanner and got this code. once it starts you can turn it off and it will start again but if you keep trying itll eventually not start again unless you jump it. so i also got a code that says theres an issue with the ignition switch or ignition switch harness. im gonna try what you did here first see if thats the issue. any help would be much appreciated. thanks in advance

I have a question not related to this video, but a past video. It's related to a possible radiator problem. My serpentine belt snapped and my engine overheated. Replaced the serpentine belt already. Refilled the coolant reservoir. Actually let out a little air from the bleeding side too. However, I'm getting this slight misty smoke coming from the bottom part of the radiator. I can't spot any physical leaks. It may be a really slow leak though. No visible drop in coolant in reservoir tank either. Could this light smoke be caused by the leftover spilled coolant smoking /evaporating due to the heat of the engine?? Thank you in advance for your time.

Ahhh! The old removed fuse! Probably had a MIL on due to the MAF and the fuse was removed to get rid of the money light. Did the owner purchase the vehicle recently?

I have 2010 gmc that has catalytic converter codes but check engine light isn't comming on. I don't see any fuses for it. What controls the light. When I start the car all the dash lights come on except the check engine light.

So it has a couple other issues that lit the MIL and they pulled the fuse to turn it out. NOOOO a "dealer" would never do that... (In NY they wouldn't as it's an automatic fail on the inspection)
