The experiment isn't bad - but the most important factor was overlooked: Of course alcohol kills everything, but can you also fill the carpet, the couch, groceries or entire rooms with alcohol? If so then cool!! I've been using ozone generators in rooms, fridges, and trash cans almost every day for years. So everything is odorless. You simply have to use ozone generators more often so that it can effectively go in anywhere and do its job. ❤
@leonardmilcin7798 Жыл бұрын
Also, ozone does a lot of other things. Just like hydrogen peroxide, it is unstable and releases a hungry oxygen atom that wants to immediately bind to the first thing it finds. It essentially attacks and destroys pretty much every type of biological matter. It will kill anything -- cells, viruses, spores. It might not be effective against organisms that evolved antioxidants (for example green plants, algae, etc.) It will also destroy or deactivate pretty much all organic substances that have smell. So you can run it in a smelly room and if you do it for long enough at high enough concentration, you will get rid of all smells provided oxygen is able to penetrate everywhere.

The concentration of the ozone is also a factor here. Just looked up the ozone machine model here and it seems its 10,000 mg/hr. Of course how long you run the machine for and whether the area is sealed closed are variables. As you mentioned the ozone machine is great for areas you aren't going to clean by hand anyway so technically you could sanitize walls and ceilings and other objects in a room all at once which wouldn't have gotten touched by any cleaning agent at all most likely. Interesting experiment. Just grabbed a 20,000 mg/hr unit. Thanks!

Good work! I have an ozone generator that maxes out at 12000 mg of ozone per hour and I expose items for no less than an hour to 12. I go scorched earth with it! I also have an ambient air ozone meter to monitor any leaking ozone levels at the exterior of the room where the sanitizing is taking place. Then, I use it for screening the room for safe levels, subsequently to venting the space for a reasonable period time or more, before allowing any physical activity within the area. Caution! Ozone generators don't only produce ozone. They also produce other energetic isotopes of other elements and gaseous compounds from the atmosphere including nitric acid fumes. The ozone and the other energetic isotopes and compounds will attack and have a corrosive effect on many exposed metal surfaces and polymers (Plastics) if saturated for long enough. The rubber feet of my generator crumbled away after my third heavy run, while fumigating a room full of contaminated items. Ozone must be treated with the utmost respect, care, and descension! Please stay safe!

Hate to comment on an older video, but did someone already mention that in addition to chemical sterilization, the clorox and alcohol pads also benefited from PHYSICAL sanitation? The clorox wipes have a residue that continues to kill microbes for a while, especially before it is dried fully. The alcohol is also aqueous and will continue to kill until it completely evaporates. The ozone only works in the chamber and will not have any effect on anything encountered out of the chamber. I’d be curious to see what the result would be with an aqueous ozone solution. Ozone generator bubbled in water. 😃

I would loved to have seen a 60 minute run. Some bacteria are only killed at certain levels, so a 60 minute run may have shown a bigger difference. I am wondering why you think ozone would work outside of the environment where you ran the machine. Perhaps ALL the bacteria was killed INSIDE the box... but of course you would pick up bacteria OUTSIDE the box because the ozone machine wasn't running outside the box. It's kind of like washing your hands and then rubbing them over a contaminated surface and wondering why your hands are now contaminated. Great video all the same!!! Love it!
@Smokebgonerva2 жыл бұрын
Actually, ozone works great in larger areas from vehicles to commercial sized buildings as long as all doors and windows are shut. Ozone dissipates at an expedential rate so you must have a strong enough generator (s) that can produce enough ozone (parts/million) to achieve super sterilization. The issue is most non commercial ozone generators do not have the power to reach super sterilization.

You guys are really awesome for running these test to allow us to watch. I like hard evidence. However please be careful with these one time test , as it's never accurate usually half of the time. You should consider a team because these test work best when many angels are tested. In addition having multiple machine, low grade and high quality etc as out put effects outcome as well as time.... Something for all of us to consider is nothing works for every scenario across the board. As you briefly mentioned. However 40 minutes wasn't the proper time frame to get ypu the results, alcohol could in minutes. Doesn't mean ozone won't get you to zero with more time Something to consider is the type of bacteria that lingered. Was it aerobic or anaerobic. As aerobic isn't the ones you care to kill. It's the later. As aerobic functions well in high oxygen environments However over exposure may kill them too.... However an additional opinion of why you'd buy an ozone is to mitigate insects that can increase bacterial load, you may also choose to use ozonated water to wash your hands a d body in the first place and thus not have to worry about transfer.... Just some additional thoughts as this video results were discouraging when everyone shoukd invest in a machine IMO. but please don't stop testing I love watching these. I wish someone would test how or if antibacterial mats are effective for reducing bacteria transfer from outside.... I'll subscribe... thx

I bought an ozone generator to get rid of a smell in a rental apartment. Ran it for an hour generating 20g. Had a really cheap stand fan made in China circulating the air. @BitNRG2K16 күн бұрын
I see a number of inaccuracies in this video that could invalidate the scientific results. 1) You should have used the same method for all tests. Since you used a cloth soaked in liquid for both the chlorhexidine and alcohol tests, you should have also used an inert cloth for the first strip. This is because bacteria can transfer from one surface to another simply by wiping it with a cloth. 2) The same method should have been applied to the ozone test as well. The disinfecting power of something dissolved in the air is hard to compare with a liquid disinfectant that’s concentrated and applied directly to the surface via a cloth. It would have made more sense to use ozonated water (again, with a cloth for the reasons explained in point 1). 3) For both the chlorhexidine and alcohol tests, it would have been better to wait for the liquid to evaporate first. This way, you would collect only the remaining bacteria, avoiding carrying over part of the solution onto the cotton swab. You could have also added a test for boiled water in the culture to demonstrate that it had no bacteria. It would still be really interesting to see the effect of ozonated water!

Off course I leave the boots in overnight after running the machine for 30 or so mins

I am cleaning mold from the wall in my sink cabinet. It has spread to areas I cannot reach, so I cannot "clean" the mold off the surface without tearing out the cabinetry. Some yahoo with a business said don't "waste money on ozone generators: because they don't "penetrate" the paper in dry wall. So I guess I should just buy alcohol and spray and drizzle it into cracks and crevices I cannot reach in hopes of killing the mold till I can tear out the cabinets? I live here so I can't just pack up and leave for a month. I had bought a hunting ozone generator for the car. A little device the size of a bottle of beer. It plugged into the cigarette light or USB port, or wall adapter and bathed the air inside the car in ozone for like 1-3 hours before shutting off for the rest of the night. I wonder if I could put this beneath my cabinet and tape it shut with plastic sheeting to force the ozone to accumulated and bleed out of the gaps and airflow that the mold also took advantage of?
@GrowingAnswers Жыл бұрын
It should work. Ozone gets into everything. It does move through areas that are closed off. I can’t speak to the concentration after it’s traveled, but you can certainly detect it. For mold it will take several applications. It should take care of the airborne stuff at the least.

One concern is that when ozone is use in actual practice the application time is longer and the time following the application is longer. In this case you also measured the speed at which each cleaner acts on bacteria. While the exposure time for the ozone in the box may have been OK the time allowed after exposure to ozone was not in line with the typical use.
