I live in Perth and I see B doubles and double road trains all the time. I can remember when road trains weren't allowed on Perth highways.

Sealed beam headlights and massive forward facing air intakes sitting high above the roof of the truck are two big visual differences between Aussie trucks and the trucks we regularly see here in Canada. We are just starting to allow doubles on the roadways here. Never actually seen a full on four trailer road train in person - amazing!!

I did Stuart Highway, pass and beeing passed by these truck at 130km/h are damn good feeling. 1 driver told me that he drives from Darwin to Adelaide (3000km) in 2 days, take a day off then go back - just crazy

I did Karratha (on the Indian Ocean) to Cairns (on the Pacific Ocean) in three and a half days - just under 4500 km. It's a long way between nowhere and nowhere.

I think what people from overseas don't understand, is that in Ausrtralia, all heavy vehicles have dedicated haulage routes, pending set up and permits.

That's true but only in certain states... for instance, in Texas you can't have triples... nor can you have turnpike doubles there

I live in Australia, and have toured a few times in the U.S, and often wondered why you don't use road trains there. The U.S.A is bigger than Australia, and there's a lot of empty land with good roads. Why the restrictions? Even b doubles are rare.

The Scania at 3.52 was twin steer tri drive pulling four full tri axle trailers with three tri axle dollies totalling 26 axles and 100 tyres on the road.

I don't get it, when I was child I connect a lot of car, and the back section didn't walk aligned with front one, but this truck with massive load seems have no problem. I still don't get it how the back section didn't loose control.

It's a cost thing. Putting in rail and maintaining it would be staggering in cost when you consider the outback is about 4 million square kilometers.

Wouldn't I love to be up there in the cab behind the wheel hauling 3 or 4 trailers going through the gears. I have only pulled two 20 foot containers in a train but now here in Ontario Canada they haul two 53 foot trailers in a train but not the weights that you lads haul.

Yeah we do. If you look at the last shot 5:32 for example you can see the side ones at the rear of the trailers.

All dg’s (dangerous goods) have an eip (emergency information panel) on the side and rear. There are diamonds on the front of the prime mover too. If we get it wrong it is a really expensive exercise for both driver and company.

Look at the Mack Titan. Its a widely used truck for this application in this environment and it is specified to haul multiple trailers with a combined weight of up to 200 tons. How is a Hino 700 supposed to do that?
