In this poem, the poet met a traveller from the ancient land of Egypt. He told the poet about the ruined statue of the great powerful King, Ozymandias. He says that the statue is made up of stone in an land . Moreover, it stands on legs only . The upper body was destroyed. Furthermore, the face of the statue lay nearby on the sand. It was damaged and destroyed by the passage of time. The face of the statue has expressions of displeasure and a tounting smile. The wrinkles and lines of the face were also there. The poet says that the sculpture who had made the statue had read the expressions on the Egyptian King Ramesses's face very well as he was able to copy them onto the staue accurately. These expressions continued to exist even after the King death through his lifeless statue. The traveller next describe the words inscribed on the pedestal of the statue, which say : " My name is Ozamandias, king of kings : look upon my works, ye mighty and despair! " The King announced himself as the mightiest. He wanted other kings to feel belitted in front of him. The poet says that now nothing else other than this engraving remains. The statue broke down with the passage of time and its broken pieces could be seen lying around. The vast stretched all around and its seemed to be endless. The statue of the great king Ozymandias was nowhere to be seen. Thus,in this poem the poet brings out the vanity of human pomp and power. Everything in thus world is temporary and is bound to crumble and brought low with the passage of time. Even the mightiest ruler dynasties and regime will bite dust and their works be buried in the level sand. Nothing can stand and withstand time forever. Thank you!!!❤

Shelly was occasionally known to have a pop at the Royals, he didn't like them very much. So when this poem was published in the local journals and newspapers , he is saying that the artist's talent has lasted and is witnessed beyond the mighty empire built by the nobility of the ancient time. In a satirical parallel, he is telling the current Royals that his art (poetry) will outlast any bricks and mortar structures erected by them. There's a subtle and discrete 2 fingers going up here, you've got to admire his talent.😜

Summary of the poem The speaker of the poem meets a traveller who came from an ancient land. The traveller describes two large stone legs of a statue, which lack a torso to connect them, and stand upright in the desert. Near the legs, half buried in sand, is the broken face of the statue. The statue's facial expression-a frown and a wrinkled lip-form a commanding, haughty sneer. The expression shows that the sculptor understood the emotions of the person the statue is based on, and now those emotions live on, carved forever on inanimate stone. In making the face, the sculptor's skilled hands mocked up a perfect recreation of those feelings and of the heart that fed those feelings (and, in the process, so perfectly conveyed the subject's cruelty that the statue itself seems to be mocking its subject). The traveller next describes the words inscribed on the pedestal of the statue, which say: "My name is Ozymandias, the King who rules over even other Kings. Behold what have built, all you who think of yourselves as powerful, and despair at the magnificence and superiority of my accomplishments." There is nothing else in the area. Surrounding the remnants of the large statue is a never-ending and barren desert, with empty and flat sands stretching into the distance.
