This rare piece of film was recorded by Philthy Animal Taylor's (Motorhead's drummer) dad This is footage from the infamous Port Vale Heavy Metal Holocaust gig 1st August 1981. This part of the film shows Ozzy Osbourne making his way to the stage. After Lemmy makes his introduction he hits the stage.

FANTASTIC!!! This footage is more that rare to me. at 0.52 my dad walks into frame! He worked at Jet Records and toured the world with Ozzy, but I have never found him in any footage. Also, at 02.29, John "upsy" Downing" walks into shot to lead the band on stage. He was a good mate of my dads and he was murdered on a ferry to France some years later, although it was put down to accidental death. He was security for the band and Ozzy. Thank you so much for making this footage accessable, its incredible to me and my dad when I showed it to him.

I was fortunate to have seen Randy Rhoads on the Diary tour February 21, 1982 in Corpus Christi, Texas, just a month before he died. When I heard about Randy’s passing, it hit me hard, because he was why I took up Classical guitar lessons to add to my already learned Heavy Metal playing. R.I.P. Randy. You were and still are the best.

I remember a couple of Lemmy's on stage announcements. One was "we soundchecked last night and a bloke from half a mile away complained because he couldn't hear Hawaii 5-0 on telly." and "This is the biggest PA system ever assembled in Europe. 130,000 watts, so when you go home tomorrow, you can say to your family and friends "pardon?"

40 years ago, Magnum P.I. was in it's first season, Reagan was starting his first term, people went to concerts to come together and hear real musicians, and Can't Happen Here by Rainbow was a warning mistakenly thought of as just another rock song. Now it's Happening Here.

People are more interested in getting cell phone footage which is stupid , last concert I seen was Ghost , must of been 600 people with cell phones recording lol . So stupid , you'd think people would realize that if 20 people are filming the concert you'll see it on KZbin in the very near future . No need for 600 cameras ...I enjoyed the show not my cell phone screen lol.

I really wanted to go to this gig but my Dad wouldn't let me at the time as I was only 14. We had a major row over this as I wanted to see Randy live so much. I didn't speak to my Dad for a while. I also remember getting the tickets for the diary of a madman tour which was at Stafford Bingley Hall known to the locals as the Cowshed and was devastated when I heard about the plane crash. My friend Robert Sutton told me that Randy had died. My friends drew straws on who was going to give me the news Rob got the short one. I didn't believe him at first but then heard Tommy Vance make the announcement on the Friday rock show. I was so gutted I never got see Randy play.

Same here... I had Tix to see the Diary tour at Madison square garden just a couple weeks after Randy's passing. To this day it's still hurts that I just missed seeing him. I still went to the show but I wish I didn't cause it was the absolute most depressing bummer of a show that I've ever been to!! Bernie Torme was the guitar player who got the immediate gig for a short while as Ozz continued the tour about a week after Randy's death. He did a decent job filling in especially considering he learned the whole show in less than a week but it just didn't come close to Randy. I won't even get started on the fact that Sharon had parts of the Diary tour professionally filmed yet to this day still refuses to release any of the shows. From what I've heard..its all due to her not thinking she'd make enough money. Fuckin bitch!! What a travesty and a total shittin on Randy's legacy and the millions of people who would die to see a clearly shot show with Randy.

So, every amateur fan that had a camera never learned to focus and never wanted to videotape an actual great band like Ozzy's Blizzard Of Ozz for the future for more than a few minutes? There is probably only a few seconds of Randy in there and that goes by like a screaming train. No one on planet earth did a better job than that in 2 years of touring? Really? Come on now. The biggest fuckin crime and travesty is that it's an absolute fact that Sharon had parts of the Diary tour professionally filmed yet 39 years later and the fuckin bitch still refuses to release any of the shows. It's so shameful and such a slap in the face to all of Randy's fans as well as to his legacy as I'm sure she's well aware how tiny the amount of clear footage exists of Randy.. just the after hours video... which is ridiculous. The Osbourne family can all go fuck themselves. Bob Daisley also talks about it on his website as well as he has what's called The Holy Grail.. beautiful recordings and films of Randy that he's posted bits and pieces of the recordings on his website. I highly recommend checking it out. What pisses me off about him is he also won't release any of it. From what I remember reading. .. it's all due to monetary reasons which is a fuckin shame considering how much longer does he really have on this planet?? He's had a helluva career and I highly doubt he's hurting for money and he and Sharon should care alot more about Randy's legacy than lining their pockets!!
