Well, I must say, videos from the later years of Sabbath's original lineup where Ozzy (the animated front man) is stuck off to the side while Tony (the guy who just stands still and riffs out) stood center stage, appear to be a Testament to the man's overwhelming ego at that time.

Jake simply wanted credit. It wasn't just about money. It was about credit for a thing you created. It's a basic human need. @zoomosis
@zoomosis 2 жыл бұрын
@@jiveturkey1257 I suspect a big reason Randy wanted to leave was because Ozzy was contractually obliged to record a live album full of Black Sabbath covers and Randy was totally against the idea. Randy wasn't known to be a fan of Black Sabbath's songs and probably felt insulted at the thought of doing a whole album of them. It's not hard to imagine there being huge pressure on him to record it from Ozzy and Sharon, enough to get into a fight about it with Ozzy, particularly since the owner of the record company (Jet Records) was Sharon's father. Ozzy also married Sharon that same year, just a few months after Randy's death. The live album would ultimately be recorded later that year, six months after Randy died, with Brad Gillis on guitar. It was released as Speak Of The Devil just before Christmas in 1982. It's now kind of Ozzy's "forgotten album" from the 1980s: unavailable to stream online and only really available on the used CD market, from what I can tell.

Ozzy, Sharon and the infamous "bus driver/pilot" aka "Doctor Train Wreck" all had a secret deal (ritual sacrificed) with the "unknown" (Sabbaths highly controversial but recognized spiritual 5th member) Iommi made a deal with this spiritual being as well and was supposed to sacrifice Ozzy, but instead fate stepped in and Ozzy was just fired but he was spiritually sacrificed which Iommi thought his commitment was met but it wasnt so the ominous 5th member casted the group of Black Sabbath to be placed in a hex of "holding period" where they neither demised nor advanced (which explains why Sabbath had such a confusing career/history after Ozzy's departure. Next the spiritual being went on to continue to play with Ozzy's soul by offering him a second chance of super-stardom based on conditional requirements that must be kept. After that Ozzy knew he was gonna comeback big because he had his personal "mojo/high priest" 5th member back at his side. Unfortunately for Randy this also meant he would be the sacrificial conditional requirement that Ozzy agreed to for a life long of fame and notoriety (which hindsight clearly shows happened even though Ozzy really should have went defunct with all those other 80s heavy metal acts that did back in the day) Sharon was given her instructions on who to hire (the bus driver with the black aura surrounding him (see Ritchie Blackmore's spiritual awareness of this dark man that he refused to hire to drive them on their tour months prior to Sharon hiring him, just by doing a quick reading and assessment of the guy) Anyways Randy did have a guardian angel watching over him but unfortunately Randy decided to against his normal behavior (which was part of the "guardian's" will, and did freely accept to go along for a quick ride up in that plane. It was a ritual of "3" for that day and that meant 3 must go and be offfered up as to Ozzy and Sharons commitment for the life they are still allowed to have up to this day. But time is catching up with old Ozzy and he has failed to live up to his conditional commitments as of late.......by now one of his children should have been offered up and that clearly hasnt happened so now Ozzy is hexed with a plague of problems which will surely be his demise. Now you know the "real" story.

Jake E Lee never wanted to take over Ozzy's band. Jake just wanted his writing credits because Sharon Osbourne tricked him on the Bark At The Moon album. Even when I was a little kid I thought that it was strange that the album credits for Bark At The Moon said all words and music written by Ozzy Osbourne. I guess that is how a band is supposed to function in Ozzy's mind. The band was never a team. It was always about Ozzy Osbourne. @@angusorvid8840 I have to disagree politely Angus. Ozzy between 1973 - 1975 was on fire. He did contribute lyrics to Black Sabbath's career, and one of his best is THE WRIT on Sabotage. And what people forget is, Ozzy wrote everything he sang. It's melody. Melody is composition. If Paul McCartney can get accolades for his sense of melody (but to me there's nothing else in his songs but that), Ozzy should get the same respect. Because he is an excellent melodist. Far better than Dio. Ozzy's sense of melody is the kind that sticks in your head.
@arto2533
@arto2533 2 жыл бұрын
@@angusorvid8840 to quote Bob Daisley: "Ozzy wrote too...he'd come up with a lot of the vocal melodies". Zakk Wylde has also called Ozzy "the master of melodies" and someone else (I've forgotten who) said that "you could play Ozzy anything and he'd come up with a great melody for it". AND there is a certain consistency in the style and scales of the vocal melodies on Ozzy albums regardless of who's writing the lyrics or the music behind it. So yes, he is a schmuck who owns his success largely to the people he's worked with, but he certainly DID contribute, and that's not even debatable.

Jake E. Lee was most certainly the highlight of the Ozzy performance, and that would be the last time I saw Ozzy actually move on stage and not need a teleprompter. All though I did. See No Rest for The Wicked Tour and Ozzy was still not completely lethargic, Zack was the Ultimate guitarist that night and by far the best guitar solo I ever witnessed. The reason Zakk is better for Ozzy, 1 he wrote the meanest riffs that transitioned from the late 80’s into the 90’s era, 2 he dreamed of playing for Ozzy and got the gig. His favorite guitarist is Randy and his playing is untouchable. Jake nowadays looks like an old man and plays alright. Zakk is defying what is possible speed wise pentatonic wise for over 20 minute solos every show. And according to Ozzy, Jake was a boring introvert roommate/band mate. That must be awkward and borderline torture to deal with being a rockstar. Zakk isn’t given the respect he deserves from a lot of metals heads out there and at the end of the day, we can like Jake more then Zakk, but No More Tears out sold every album he ever sold. Zakk is the best Ozzy ever had. He never stopped producing music. Jake cried for over 20 years or something about being kicked out. Obviously was about the fame rather then writing music for the fans.

Both give readers an inside look at how some of our favorite albums were made, their personal lives at those times, and a lot of laughs. Also how Bob, Lee and Jake were screwed over financially. Learning stuff about our favorite bands by reading and watching Full In Bloom interviews and reading books by the artists makes listening to their albums a much more intimate experience IMO.

Ozzy(Sharon) is lying. Sharon screwed Jake out of writing credit and Publishing on the BATM album. I think we've heard Jake on this topic. TUS album Jake wrote the whole album( music) while Ozzy was in the Betty Ford clinic, and Jake wouldn't put a track down until a deal was legally in place. On the Third album that was to happen, Ozzy didn't like the music Jake presented to him, that included future Badlands songs, The Last time and Hard driver. Jake never tried to take over anything. Jake wanted the Osbourne's to keep their word . Even poor Mrs. Rhoads had to sue the Osbourne's over Randy's royalties. Jake is a Humble, down to earth guitar legend, period.

Jake wanted writing credit... without it he had no choice but to feel like a field hand. Jake wrote all of Bark at the Moon and Ultimate Sin....and Ozzy is credited for all the writing. Dirty dirty business. And I remember an interview from 86 where Ozzy said he had been watching rehearsals for guitarists all day, and walked by a room where Rhoads was tuning up, and dialing in the amp, and stuck his head in told Randy he's got the gig. It's sad how much bad information is out there. I don't think Ozzy actually remembers. With all we know , NOW, about the dealings with Jake and the rumors of the Osbournes attempting to even screw over Randy Rhoads out in the middle of a tour just before his death - I've often wondered what the situation was/is with Zakk ? From the looks of it, Zakk has never had a public mix up with the Osbournes, that I can remember. I know he supposedly "left" a couple of times etc.. I guess Zakk is pretty easy going , knew/knows when he landed the gig way back in 1988 that it was a coveted position etc.. so he probably didn't make too much fuss/many waves about pay/royalties/song credits etc.. - and I'm sure at this point he's done well thru the Osbourne organization . Obviously , it's probably not the amount many of us would think - I think that explains his ventures with side gigs: BLS, Zakk Sabbath etc..

Too bad Ozzy or his wife, have never validated him in anyway. With Ozzy, it’s all about Randy and Zack. You might be a millionaire Ozzy but you know nothing about music. Jake is the best!

oh, and I do know that Bob Daisley wrote almost all the lyrics for the first 4 or 5 Ozzy albums. Kerslake joined after Blizzard was already written so he contributed to the writing of Diary Of A Madman-album only. And as Kerslake's musical history shows...he was a great drummer, but hardly much of a creative songwriter.

I don't think it was about money with Randy. He was simply too talented and diverse musically to be tied to the 'heavy metal' realm, and found all the abuse going around him annoying. I could be wrong, but that's the consensus of what I've picked up from later interviews with Rudy Sarzo and Ozzy himself. Could have been some money issues on top of that...but at least Randy got his publishing and shit.

Love how he goes on about the band, the unit but constantly has screwed his band mates. There’s only so much he can soft push onto Sharon, the taskmaster with his feigned ignorance. If you’re the name of the enterprise and don’t like something going down, no agent or manager is going to stop you making something right. He’ll never be square for re-recording Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake’s parts on the first two. And shame on the musicians who did the re-recording but of course they were too spineless to risk their paymaster.

@@jeffreyhutchins6527 You don't think Mike Borden or studio people were talking to Ozzy about re-recording the bass and drums. Borden was in his band at the time. There's no way Ozzy didn't know it was happening.Think of the size of the enterprise that is his name. Even with a genius management you don't dodder your way through the logistics of those tours and sessions and promo, oblivious to all of the machinations that keep it rolling. Lets suppose he knew little about as it happened, he didnt need to throw his wife under the bus. You shouldn't do that to your wife. But you sure can privately set her straight from time to time on how you expect things to be done when it's your name. And thats assuming he wasn't fully involved. Plus, what's the expiration on making something right if you find out after anyway? Its not like Ozzy made a statement after that it was done without his knowledge and immediately had the new versions pulled.
