When I was 9 years old, this was the first Ozzy song I had ever heard. I hadn't ever heard Sabbath or his early solo career. My step mom just had Ozzmosis laying around and I became obsessed with the album from front to back. What a strong opener. And then I showed my friends. I paved their way into metal. Ugh, 4th grade memories.

We need Perry Mason Someone to put you in place Calling Perry Mason again, again [Verse 2] Riding painted horses Oh the kids they love it so You can see it on their faces How they love the wind to blow Minding my own business Like my mama always said But if i don't try to help them They could wind up on the front page

@@kurzackd Dead wrong. It is not about addiction, Ozzy himself has said that the song was about how he was spending so much time in courtrooms during that time that he felt like Perry Mason.
@kurzackd
@kurzackd 2 жыл бұрын
@@SpacePharaoh ... Ozzy might have said many things to draw attraction towards his work. That's the entire point of "stars" giving interviews. ;] Just look at the lyrics, 2nd verse: "Riding *painted* *horses* Oh the kids they *love* *it* *so* You can see it *on their faces* How they love the wind to *blow* " and then: "But if i don't try to help them They could wind up on the front page" The kids are shooting up / snorting balls / doing hash / whatever, and the protagonist is thinking that he should do something, otherwise they might end up as news items for the local papers. Then the pre-chorus: "I don't mind Draw the LINE, then draw me an arrow Feeling fine And I'll see you my friend Over and over again" Ahem... COCAINE.... -_- then, the last verse: "... I've been doing this all night How much did you give me Tell me it'll be all right" Only the FIRST verse doesn't sound like it's about drugs at all. So ok, I can admit that the song is not ENTIRELY about addiction. But a bigger part of is certainly IS... -_-

@@kurzackd Bud, he has explained the fully story in detail. The lyrics are not about addiction or drugs. So either he’s lying and everyone should trust that you know better, or, maybe, you made an assumption which was incorrect.

@@SpacePharaoh alright, show me the "source" of his explanation, and only THEN can I start debating. Until then, I am right and you're WRONG. Because I actually did some word-by-word, sentence-by-sentence, stanza-by-stanza analysis of the lyrics. You *did* *NOT* .

I love this song! Not only because its a badass song with amazing riffs, but because it brings some good, almost nostalgic memories. The first time I heard it was about 6 years ago. A few friends and I were driving around town at night and one of them, being a big Ozzy fan, put it on. I was hooked on the song and that memory of hanging out with them and listening to this song for the first time stuck with me. I also think its because we don't hang out that much anymore especially since after high school that it made it feel more special.

rofl, nostalgic memories when you first heard it 6 years ago. My brother, for some of us this was one of the first songs that we ever heard on MTV almost 30 years ago!! but yes, Ozzy brings the nostalgia hard it seems.

Ozzy always had a knack for writing really good hooks and lyrics for any topic, even the horrible ones like the Manson murders (Bloodbath in Paradise) and pedophilia (Mr. Tinkertrain). No matter what you think of his sometimes shocking subject matter, he gets the best guitarists and really us a master of his craft. Always a fan.
