Lyrics: Life is a waterfall We're one in the river And one again after the fall Swimming through the void We hear the word We lose ourselves But we find it all? 'Cause we are the ones that want to play Always want to go But you never want to stay And we are the ones that want to choose Always want to play But you never want to lose Aerials in the sky When you lose small mind You free your life Life is a waterfall We drink from the river Then we turn around and put up our walls Swimming through the void We hear the word We lose ourselves But we find it all? 'Cause we are the ones that want to play Always want to go But you never want to stay And we are the ones that want to choose Always want to play But you never want to lose Aerials in the sky When you lose small mind You free your life Aerials so up high When you free your eyes Eternal prize Aerials in the sky When you lose small mind You free your life Aerials so up high When you free your eyes Eternal prize

This video is actually very profound. For those that don't understand the music video, it's the story of the circus freak that looks up to the aerials performers. He closes his eyes and imagines a world where he is wealthy and powerful, however, his limited knowledge of real life frustrates him even in his imagination, like when he is questioned by the other kid. This goes in hand to the lines "When you loose small mind you free your life / when you fee your life eternal prize" What that basically means is that our limited perception, like that kid's, holds us captive. If we are able to confront our perceptions of life we'll get the eternal prize, which is happiness.

I think that's fairly accurate, one detail though, the lyrics are "when you free your eyes eternal prize". Which basically emphasizes what you said about perception.

I absolutely love this song. Something in the drumming is so sentimental, so soft, and so expressive, which seems to be such an emotional thread throughout the song. I cannot help but try to ruin my speakers with this whenever it comes on the playlist, I love it that much.

One of those songs where you need a breather after air-drumming in the car in the driveway. Not because it is exhaustive, but because it is so all-encompassing. This song moves something.

In my opinion, this song is about how the ego takes over our world which is what causes us to feel dissociated from the natural world. this comment from "boxes" is epic ! System of a Down has had alot of political backlash in usa and uk due to belif=efs alot like the dixie chicks and their country vs the gw bush etc etc republican stuff or anti this or anti that in my personal belief system of a down is a musical group thats convinced the system doesnt work however its projection is to fail meaning corporate global destiny is resulting in failure as a product AND THATS WHAT MAKES THEM SO AWESOME they cant be fooled they cant be controlled and they know it and love it and its what fuels Americans and humans of all races -just sayin we grow thru failure (wright brothers) and continue to push through even though this world is terminal if you need more explanation IQ higher than me seek out Marylin Manson hell educate all just as he has his interviewers however this comment is from a true fan who isnt caught u in the controversy at all well said

This song is about how people can lose their identities and become just like everyone else. Some lyric analysis: "Life is a waterfall,we're one in the river, one again after the fall." - We all start off the same and we all end up the same. "Swimming through the void, we hear the words,we lose ourselves, but we find it all." - As we go through life we are told lessons, but we ignore them. We forget who we really are in the mix of seeking the synthetic lifestyle, and that's the price to lose who we really are. "'Cause we are the ones that wanna play, always want to go, but you never want to stay." - We always want to be part of the scene. We strive for what we want and when we get it, it still does not satisfy. "And we are the ones that want to choose, always wanna play, but you never wanna lose." - We want and want. We do whatever we can but if trouble is ever near we do whatever we can to maintain innocence. "When you lose small mind you free your life." - When we stop to see the full picture is when we really have control of our lives. "Life is a waterfall, we drink from the river then we turn around and put up our walls." - We take and take and in the end we give nothing. This shows how greedy, oblivious and inconsiderate people can be.

+Kostas Life is a waterfall, we are in the river and one again after the fall ( we all are all the same, evey1 has a beggining and en end, and lives their jorney with a different story but its all very alike: born, life , die ) swimming through the void we hear the word , we lose ourselves but we find it all.... ( we lose our souls to acquire fleshly pleasures ) cause we are the ones that want to play , always want to go but you never want to stay and we are the ones that want to choose ,always want to play but you never want to lose ( we want to manipulate our own lives and future but dont wanna live with the consequences ) aerials, in the sky when you lose small mind you free your life ( when you stop paying attention to frivolous things, such as material things, you start seeing life for what it is ) Kinda difficult to put it all into words...
@MrSighAnne8 жыл бұрын
+Romeo Teixeira We are the ones that want to choose, always want to play but never want to loose. When you loose small mind you free your life. From another, "Mutability is a tragedy but it's also our hope: the worst of times like the best, are always passing away." Loose small mind and see in fourspace. Fourspace is the past, present, future at once, as well as the multitudinous possibilities that did not happen in your experience but which might have happened had the butterfly flapped it's wings.... etc. In fourspace we see that suffering is not the enemy of pleasure but rather the other side of the same sensation. Both serve to move us. They are not the destination. Man has fallen by forgetting the dual nature of all things. While it may be desirable to move away from pain and while it may be desirable to move towards pleasure, one must understand that these forces are temporal in nature and only serve to move us in our lives. If we are to stay in pleasure, we must fight the nature of time. A loosing battle for sure.

The meaning of the song, I think: It's about how people get sucked into materialistic culture. They get obsessed with fame and popularity and money. They become like this kid, altered beyond human recognition (plastic surgery being the most direct example) in an effort to try to be perfect in the eyes of society. They lure you in from childhood by convincing you that this is what success looks like, but the kid isn't happy because this doesn't make you happy. This - money, fame, being a celebrity - isn't success at all. To be happy, you have to "lose small mind". You have to see past this small picture of earning and buying and getting famous, and find your real purpose in life and do what fulfils you. Only then will you claim eternal prize. True value. Because after all, life is a waterfall. Just a small flash of activity where we all get to be unique. Before and after the waterfall. Before we're born and after we die; we're all the same. We can't take any of our money or fans out of this life. They get lost and forgotten one way or another. That's what makes these things useless. But during the waterfall, all we can honestly do is be happy, find peace, and try not to lose ourselves. For a band who almost exclusively focuses on worldwide issues, this is a very personal song. That's what makes it special. It's a personal message to each and every one of you to see past the facade and live for yourself.

This isn't just music, this is expressing an important messege through a way of art.

@a While this band is a band that’s known for expressing their opinions, not everyone makes music to express messages. Some make music because they’re good at making music and they find it fun.
@slav16164 жыл бұрын
@@Gamer88334 then the message they're giving is "i like music" every music has a message, because it's art. the definiton of art is a way wich the artist can speak his perception of the world to other people be the message profound or not, it's still art, it still has a message fuck it, it can even be an inconsious message non intentional there are many ways of expressing yourself

irsan moon dude people heard the message. Nothing will change though, our race is already to far gone, we are so weak, so content being conformed. The only escape from this controlled world is listening to this and imagining what could've been if we stood up and did something.

I sung this song for karaoke at my school. Half of the kids in there probably had no idea who the band was but I’m just proud I had the confidence to get on stage and sing an amazing song from such an amazing band.
@ShadowMoon8782 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. I grew up in the 90s. When our High school held a talent show, two-thirds of the boys and girls would either sing crappy songs from boybands or the Spice Girls while the others would sing crappy R&B love songs. Me and my friends were inspired by Nirvana's Unplugged concert, so we formed a band and played 3 of their songs, also unplugged. The whole school don't even know who was Nirvana.
