GOOD TO SEE A JUG AGAIN

My dad's ride, in WWII. He hated the Curtiss electric props. He said the plane only came alive after the Hamilton Standard paddle-bladed prop replaced the Curtiss (which are prone to fire). So, it makes me wonder why anyone would put a Curtiss prop on a beautiful rebuild. I know for a fact there are many Hamilton Standard props available. Looks like an A+ restoration!!

I think it's because It's the -23 variant of the P-47D, which specifically came with a Curtiss prop. I guess they were trying to be faithful to the original spec. Not sure if they changed many planes over from the Curtiss to the Hamilton Standard, or if that was not done.

This plane would have had a CE prop so we wanted it to be right. Our test pilot says this is the fastest 47 he has ever flown. Because of the prop

@@euromobile900, oh, it was done a lot. Once the HS props showed up, they replaced the CE props pretty quickly.
