It's all just part of the hobby. You quicky realize that if your not willing to crash it, you don't fly it. You just learn from what happened and start thinking about what plane is going to replace it.

Sorry for your loss. I love the p47! however I don't think it was a radio problem. in the video you can see that while you are pulling the looping he snaps and immediately afterwards he spins. I think you had given too much travel on the elevator and you have exceeded the characteristics of the plane. I apologize to everyone if I wrote errors but I am using the translator.

Oh man my heart broke with that beautiful plane! Sorry that happened to you mate! I lost my best plane like this. An 88 inch Extreme Flight Yak 54 with a DA60cc engine. I had bought it second hand and the previous owner had done some weird wiring job on the plane. It seemed to fly fine for several months but one day she went off the air as i was coming in to land. One battery was flat but the other one was ok. Obviously the redundancy didn't work. From that day i vowed NEVER to buy a second hand plane ever again! All the planes i've built i have NEVER had one go off the air. Glad the donk survived mate! Subbed to your channel.

I too use Futaba (for years) with a 617 rx and have never had a problem. It's good for 4.8v to 6v. I personally only ever fly on 6v to negate any power drain by operating 6, 7 or even 8 high torque digital servos all at the same time.

It could have been a receiver battery, 2.4ghz interference or a high speed stall. People don’t like Jeti Radios but Jeti Radios have two 2.4ghz antennas and a backup 900mhz receiver. The Jeti will tell you in advance if you are losing signal or if your receiver battery is spiking voltage. You need a backup for that backup and for that backup🍷 P.S. There’s nothing wrong with having 2 or 3 different manufacturers Radios. Some guys use Spektrum and Futaba for their less expensive models and use Jeti Radios for their expensive models. I have Airtronics Radio (Never lost a Plane), Futaba 16SZA and the most luxurious radio Jeti DS 16 Carbon.

Another fine example of how ARF's are NOT built to hit the deck.......I have a 73" Phoenix Extra 330SC that is missing everything forward of the firewall, and it went in a LOT softer and from a lot lower than this did. Glad the Saito pulled through, it would have been a serious tragedy if you'd bent that.....the "kinda-like" carboard and plastic airframe it was dragging around is no great loss in my opinion. It might be a tad late now, but next time you'll check those batteries won't you ?

Saw that many times at my airfield, and always the same yell from the pilot: Lost radio! I had a 1500mm and a 84" P-51D Mustangs, and a couple of other itchy airplanes. about 10 years ago, i had a Yak, from Great Planes, and i used to use Life batteries. I only had one battery, no redundancy system in the plane. it had a 30 cc nitro motor in it. It was the first flight of the morning. I had charged the battery that morning. I checked the voltage before hand, and took her off. I then flew her for 9 minutes and landed the plane. As I was taxiing her back, all of a sudden, the motor quit and one elevator dropped. On the ground, all of a sudden, I had lost radio control of the airplane. Then I checked the battery, and the voltage was 4.2 that is when I knew, never again use a LIFE A123 battery. So sorry my friend.

I went with HiTec after losing 5 airplanes in a row. Then I had problems with their 8 channel recievers and lost 2 more. The micro receivers had two failures too. I miss my old pre '90s gear that never failed. Even on 72 kHz. Beware of flying around powerlines, chain link fences, metal buildings and schools. 2.4 ghz. Is not infallible and it doesn't work as well around the above mentioned hazards. Remember flying on 28 kHz? Ouchies for your airplanes.

Looked like a stall to me and then unable to pull out due to either continuing to hold up elevator which kept the plane in a stall or it was borderline tail heavy, which would make the plane respond in the same way. Looked like sufficient altitude to let the nose drop, add throttle and pull out, but if tail heavy, it will stall again.

It's so, so common to blame the radio in a moment of "shock" when a model nails the ground hard, when in 95% of cases it's pilot error, or the assembler of the ARF made mistakes in the control system or electronics layout!! "I got Hit, I got Hit" Sure looked like a accelerated stall to me, although a P47 is the most forgiving warbird there is!

That was a tip stall, when the plane went straight up it was going too slow. Those wings were fighting for lift.

I have to disagree. He was attempting full throttle and you could hear he had NOTHING. You’re absolutely going to stall being unable to increase airspeed. So yes it was a stall, but not pilot error. In my opinion.

Im totally gutted for you. No one wants to see anyone crash their plane and such an nice plane it was too. You were just very unlucky. Ive been flying model aircraft since 1986 and ive had a few bad occasions myself and it feels bad . I feel bad for you on this occasion but I know you will bounce back like all the rest of us. Im actually thinking of buying this plane as ive never had a P47 in my hangar. It seems to fly well at slow speeds from your video which i like. Would you recommend this plane? Kind regards and keep flying.

I highly suggest you don't. With all the new radio frequencies from wifi to cell phones to 5g and the new police and fire fighter radio towers. 72mhz doesn't work well at all. I suggest going with futaba Its expensive but never lost a plane.

@@krotchlickmeugh627 those are all way higher frequency than 72mhz. WiFi routers digital networks and fire ems are all much farther from 72 than 2.4. But we’ll see. We’ve never really had a problem with it since I’ve been flying. I do like the shorter antennas though. Now for park flyers and micro planes..2.4 all the way. Line of sight close range, for sure.

@@design2survive youre incredibly misinformed. Yes while they are on a different band obviously. They interfere with 72. Good luck. I'm trying to help not lecture you so ill bite my tongue. But crossfire can go further than 8-10 miles so idk what you think you know but again good luck

@@krotchlickmeugh627 I just watched a crash, line of sight, great pilot, futaba fasst, and 2.4. No obvious failures. Ymmv. I was all into it until watching a bunch of vids with the same thing happen, and reading forums where it happens all the time. The band is good for things like WiFi and baby monitors. 800mhz would be a great balance..shorter antennas, decent range, digital modes, a bit of propagation in case you end up behind a twig. But it wouldn’t blow rf into the next county. I’ll wait for that system to show up.

Looked like the RX batt voltage was 4.7 v as displayed on the TX. That is too low and probably why you lost control. if that checks out, it did look like a stall spin, secondary stall hit the ground scenario also. Yeah, you did not have control, because it was stalled. Not because the radio failed.
