the faster the bullet hence+ p. expands much more rapidly therefore does not penetrate as deep so the fact that he uses + P ammo to penetrate deeper is bullshit + P ammo is used for shorter barrels guns that do not produce the velocity to expand reliably
@chrishopkins910611 жыл бұрын
Great vid thanks a lot for the info. And to the guy who thinks its a marketing gimmick. Its not about whether the round hurt. Its did it stop the threat. If I was carrying a 9mm I personally wouldn't go with overpressure rounds because its already a smaller more penetrating bullet Unless in the case of how he described in the video where you lose velocity in a compact barrel. However in a .45 its a much larger and slower round with less penetration. So more velocity will definitely help. This is all with the safe assumption that you are using hollow points.

I was watching this because I have a Glock 19 with an aftermarket Double Diamond barrel and a steel guide rod and 18 lb recoil spring and was wondering if it would be safe to load +p+ only for my daily carry and a few at range. I would not be firing consistently.

i've fired dented steel case ammo before in both an AR and AK. nothing happened. also got a 7.62x39 round from winchester that was seated deeper than the rest. again, nothing happened when i fired it. i dont see much of an issue with those types of rounds unless they're severely over charged.

just wanted to ask you guys. I've had a custom Kimber full length I really like the 78 grain library defense 1900 fps and I crony it and got 1950 for high. That's extremely hot for the 45 it cycles perfect I ran 100 rounds not one malfunction. I do not shoot this at the rang all the time I practice run an gun with regular 230 grain ball ammo. question since I ran a hundred rounds of the 78 Liberty civil defense 45 ACP + p should I use it once in awhile when I'm training

@jorgesolis94684 жыл бұрын
Just about any gun can handle a couple of plus p the manual should say if it's ok or just use standard pressureglocks should be fine though
@v.german11b3 жыл бұрын
Correct. Plus P is not an "atomic bomb" round. It generates about 10% more pressure in the gun barrel than standard ammo. MOST modern handguns are made to withstand +P ammo. Except, that +P is not recommended for regular use because it increases wear and tear on the handgun. So, the +P should be use for a protection self-defense carry ammo, and not for regular target practice. The +P round increases expansion reliability on JHPs.
@ColoradoShootingSportsGreeley7 жыл бұрын
No gun is rated for +P+. As there is no industry standard for +P+ ammunition you won't see a gun made for it because it literally means higher than +P (10% above standard). The Shield should take +P and limited use of +P+

What factory loads? Is it +P? I've seen that malfunction with people's hands riding the slide (the high grip we all use nowadays). You might also need to clean out your ejector channel, replace the ejector spring, and/or replace the extractor.

I ONLY shoot "+p" ammo out of my H&K USP Compact .45. According to my chronograph I get 1000+fps with Rem 185gr+p "Golden Saber" and about 950fps with CCI "Lawman" 200gr full metal jacket. Very high velocity for a short 3.8 inch barrel. Also, my SIG P-239 9mm clocks in at 1200+fps with FEDERAL 115+P+jhp from a 3.6inch barrel. Honestly...I would rather rely on .45 and 9mm +p loads than any of the newer "solution" loads like .40,.357SIG and even 10mm. ....in ANY barrel length.

does +P have more stopping power?
@free00to00ryhme5 жыл бұрын
"stopping power" refers to kinetic energy transfer which is measured in ft pounds. the higher the foot pounds of energy, the more "stopping power" it has. higher velocities generate more foot pounds of energy. but, a lighter bullet with generate less foot pounds of energy than a heavier bullet going the same velocity. just look at the numbers. ultimately it's all about shot placement. you can have all the foot pounds of energy transfer in the world and none of it will mean anything unless you hit a vital organ.
