Q-tip was the only one of those 3 who was actually close friends with Beastie Boys and recorded the song Get It Together with them (on shrooms!) so that's why he fits the most naturally doing their songs. From Check Your Head era on, MCA became a Buddhist pacifist anti-gun political activist, so he didn't like saying his lyrics that involved guns anymore (22 automatic on my person.)

Tribe and beasties toured quite a bit together and they were legit friends . Qtip knew what energy to bring. Vh1 hip hop honors

This was at VH1 Hip Hop Honors. Most of the people it shows watching in the seats are Africa Bambaataa (silver glasses and staff), Wu-Tang members, Ice Cube, and Rakim (hat and dark shades). There are other videos of their induction into the hall of fame, which was done by Chuck D (Public Enemy) and LL Cool J, who ADrock discovered.

Love this...I’m pretty sure this was just a hip hop tribute for the Beastie Boys. Wish they would of had LL Cool J and Public Enemy and Busta Rhymes do the tribute.

Qtip worked with and toured with Beasties. Naturally, he'd be the most natural 😊 Beasties have engery and chemistry that is hard to duplicate. And the Chappell New Style wasn't the full song. Listen to the whole thing and you'll hear so many things that that sampled from that song into others. They cannibalized that song over the years. Love their energy.
