Testing out the P&G water purification packet again with a larger quantity of water. This is tap water with a handful of mud, dirt, grass and sticks added to it.
Approximately 2.5 gallons of water. This video took approximately 11 minutes of real time.
Note: according to the directions, be sure to strain the water through some type of cloth or coffee filter after the water separates and sits for 10 minutes
Inspiration for this test was taken from a video by Mark Rober. Watch his video here - • Drinking Nasty Swamp W...

This reminds me of some stuff called superfloc for pool maintenance...🤔

The process is called 'flocculation'. So I'm guessing it's pretty much the same thing/process happening to clean the water in pools.

@@herbertant4096 P&G is selling these products at a loss, meaning they dont profit from it but they lose money from it instead. Its not a business move but a way to help people with poor water conditions in their areas have access to drinking water which I think deserves praise. If people had access to those filters they wouldnt need this product but thats not the case.

I am not sure if this water is potable as this just seems to be clear not safe. What happened here is that a coagulant was used to coagulate all the suspended particles and impurities and settle it to bottom. Despite this there could be contamination due to bacteria and other pathogens which still poses a threat to body!

@@jawaun1875 boiling does less sanitation than chlorine. Like 10 minutes of boiling kills less bacteria in water compared to chlorine in water for 2 minutes.

It's called flocculation. It's just supposed to remove a majority of contaminants

Yes. It is colloidal science. Van der waals attraction forces is created by adding this chemical. Particles of dirt are attracted each other. More valence electron of chemical means more electrical potential. For facilities that purifies water, they usually use alumina. Its valence is high.
