P.L. Deshpande & Sunita Deshpande- Borkar Kavita Vaachan (January 1987, Mumbai)

P.L. Deshpande and Sunita Deshpande took it upon themselves to share their love of poetry by presenting some of their favorite poets' works. This is a clip from their famous Kavita Vaachan program on poet Ba Bha Borkar (January, 1987 Mumbai). The combination of poised elegance and precise delivery of Sunita Deshpande (who was praised by poet Vinda Karandikar that her reading was technically superior to even Pula's!) and the extempore excitement, liveliness and passion highlighted by Pula Deshpande in his reading and often musical presentations of Borkar's poetry was an incredible combination that was to be witnessed! It is a great lesson in how to present a poem not as a dry technical or academic form, but a lively form that highlights the intricate phrasing, choice of words, and rich beauty within the composition. We are able to enjoy this video today thanks to the efforts taken by Dr. Shraddhanand Thakur.
