Thank heaven she lived long enough to be absolutely vindicated. She was 1000% correct about the abuses of the church but the Vatican was even more powerful back then before the thousands of stories began to trickle out until it was too much to be contained and spilled over the dam. Watched through tears...Sinead always stuck up for the underdogs....always spoke loudly from the heart... As a person who was abused by a priest as a kid, her tearing up the pope's pic on SNL was as courageous an act as could be done to protest pedophile Catholic priests. If the internet would have been around back then, she would have had a real chance to explain herself and not be so misunderstood and vilified by the tabloids and would have been viewed as the hero that she was. I’m glad she at least got to live long enough to know she was right. You are correct about the internet. Back then the claims and accusations could be contained by isolating the complainer. But the internet brought those victims together in a shared space and word spread until it was too big to ignore.

This makes me cry. Glad they're celebrating such an influential woman and artist. Heartbroken at the cruelty and indifference and unavailability Sinead endured from her mother; the misogyny Sinead dealt with; and the women she stood up for who were victimized by the Catholic Church and priests. I was so grateful she had spoken out against the pope, and tore up his picture. I wish I had written so, publicly, as well as thanked her privately. When someone has the courage to stand up to injustice publicly, we should all speak up, PUBLICLY, in support of her and against the injustice, so that the brave need not be, or feel, alone.

I'm so grateful for her legacy too. As a child of sexual abuse, I understood and appreciated why she ripped up the picture. I was heartbroken that people were vicious to her but not angry about the abuse she called attention to. She rang the alarm and people showed her hate. They never gave her the apology and respect she deserved.

Angela, I agree with you. I think many people failed her for too long. As a 61 year old woman with PTSD from being raised around/with narcissistic people I felt a lot of what Sinead said. When it’s your own mother it must be the absolute worst abuse. I’m certain she’s with her son and she’s happy, healthy and free. 🙏🏼🌸

It was a great show in Cincinnati! No one has mentioned the fact that as Brandi sang earlier in the show a rainbow hovered over the stadium. I was in the cheap seats and took several pictures. It could not be seen from the stage or I’m sure Brandi would have commented. The tribute to Sinead was moving and heart felt ❤️

She made me so grateful to get away from Catholic priest....it was horrific for her, the worst I experienced was being locked in the gym equipment room while others went to mass. Rest in Peace beautiful soul.
